    Great, great, place!

I'm giving ZERZA 5 stars because It is hard to find nice ambiance places with good food options for vegetarians and meat lovers but ZERZA met our expectations! So I went with 3 friends. We were pleasantly surprised by the choices that the menu offers and the freshness and tastiness of the food. The food is really scrumptious : To start, we had the meze plate, the arugula salad and the merguez . Then we got the lamb couscous and the vegetarian one, the bastilla and the mrouzia tagine. Nothing was left on our plates ! Everything was perfect. We also got the fig ice-cream and flourless chocolate cake with some delicious hot mint tea.. It was a nice way to finish our meal ! The service was attentive and prompt. The cocktails (mojitos, caipirinhas, la poire ) were really really delicious and the red wine and rose wine good as well. The ambiance there is really nice and I really think it is a good bargain that can cater to a romantic date night or a fun night out with friends since it does have options for all palates.

    Missing the old Zerza

I'd been going to Zerza for a handful of years, and loved it so much it was my favorite spot for family, friends, and out of town guests. Sometime around 8 months ago our usual waitress was gone and another girl--a rude, dishonest, and arrogant chick they found God knows where--was hired. I took my friends to dine there then, and had a bad experience over a favorite old drink I ordered a round of (their house martini), suddenly made with randomly different liquor and juices (which the waitress thought to argue with me about rather than taking my word for it, since I'd been there longer than she had, that it was not the right drink), and a meat item on our bill we did not order (no one in our party ate meat), and yet I still decided to return to give this new waitress a fair chance. On the last occasion, my family and I were charged for a shrimp entree, although what we had ordered, been served, and eaten, had been the shrimp appetizer. When we pointed the error out, our new waitress rolled her eyes, took the bill back with her, and wrote up another bill where she'd written up the right item and price, but left the total the same. When we pointed that out on our "corrected" bill, she snatched the bill out of my dad's hand, then brought it back and slapped it on the table in front of him. I don't know what criteria Zerza uses in hiring its staff, but they have lost me, my family, and our friends. As much as it breaks my heart to say it, since Zerza was once our favorite restaurant with the warmest and friendliest staff and just the most comforting, best food...I will not go back there until they hire a new waitress. My head will keep poking in, but I will continue to walk elsewhere with my guests.

    excellent !

I love this place: the couscous, bastilla and tagines are great, authentic (I'm moroccan and when I want a taste of couscous or other Moroccan delicacies, I go to zerza). Cannot recommend the place highly enough ! The food is FABULOUS and very reasonably priced. They serve also excellent wine and cocktails. The beautiful bellydancer on the weekend adds to the charm!

    food decent, service not

the previous reviewer said it was great for larger groups, and that very well may be the case. but we were a party of two and it took more than an HOUR AND A HALF for us to get our food. by the time we were done, we had been in the restaurant for 2 hours and 15 minutes. it was simply absurd. another couple got seated a half hour after us, got their food and left way before us. the difference was that their waitress was not responsible for a big group table while ours was. bottle after bottle of wine = big tip, right? so we were sort of ignored. half-way through, we were brought a complimentary plate of hummus which was thoughtful but which revealed another tragic flaw: the hummus is disappointing! we got one appetizer (cigars) which was good (albeit a tad overpriced) and our 2 entrees were decent. to be fair, there was another server who was more attentive to us. but the whole ordeal was so prolonged. the waitress even stopped making eye contact with us when she brought the check, took my card, etc. also to be fair, the restaurant itself was nicely decorated.

very nice restaurant gor large parties

I usually don't spend time on internet reviewing restaurants but I just visited zerza recently with a large party ( we were 19) and were pleasantly suprised by the service and the food of this Moroccan restaurant ! Everything was excellent : I think we got almost everything on the menu and all the tagines, couscous, bastilla and appetizers were delicious and fresh. I particularly loved the arugula salad with rosted pears, walnuts and goat cheese ! Very tasty !!The food was full of flavor, the drinks also didn't disappoint us (good selection of wines and beers and excellent mojitos and cocktails !) I also liked the atmosphere very much, the music was ecclectic with a nice selection of arabic and others musics. The staff was very accomodating and I will definitely go back !! Way to go Zerza !!
