food decent, service not
the previous reviewer said it was great for larger groups, and that very well may be the case. but we were a party of two and it took more than an HOUR AND A HALF for us to get our food. by the time we were done, we had been in the restaurant for 2 hours and 15 minutes. it was simply absurd. another couple got seated a half hour after us, got their food and left way before us. the difference was that their waitress was not responsible for a big group table while ours was. bottle after bottle of wine = big tip, right? so we were sort of ignored. half-way through, we were brought a complimentary plate of hummus which was thoughtful but which revealed another tragic flaw: the hummus is disappointing! we got one appetizer (cigars) which was good (albeit a tad overpriced) and our 2 entrees were decent. to be fair, there was another server who was more attentive to us. but the whole ordeal was so prolonged. the waitress even stopped making eye contact with us when she brought the check, took my card, etc. also to be fair, the restaurant itself was nicely decorated.

very nice restaurant gor large parties
I usually don't spend time on internet reviewing restaurants but I just visited zerza recently with a large party ( we were 19) and were pleasantly suprised by the service and the food of this Moroccan restaurant ! Everything was excellent : I think we got almost everything on the menu and all the tagines, couscous, bastilla and appetizers were delicious and fresh. I particularly loved the arugula salad with rosted pears, walnuts and goat cheese ! Very tasty !!The food was full of flavor, the drinks also didn't disappoint us (good selection of wines and beers and excellent mojitos and cocktails !) I also liked the atmosphere very much, the music was ecclectic with a nice selection of arabic and others musics. The staff was very accomodating and I will definitely go back !! Way to go Zerza !!

odd....
my first time trying mediterranean food. it wasnt bad but when we got to the restaurant. it was closed. and covered in newspaper. and we noticed a sign saying we've moved a few numbers down the street. so we went inside and the place was really really tiny. it was empty and quiet...as though we should not be there. but we looked at the menu and decided to try some stuff out. i had fish and most everyone else had duck and ribs. the ribs were probably the only thing "worth" it. my salmon was good but weird at the same time. the ribs were soft and melted in your mouth. apparently we were the only ones there wen we came and the only ones there wen we left. its not really worth the time to try. i'd say head somewhere else.

Delicious Food, Small Plates, Nice Atmosphere
The food was all delicious, although the portions are a tad small (not more so than your average fancy restaurant). Pretty much all the appetizers are great. I had the cod tagine, which was very tasty. The desert was uniformly amazing. The baklava was perfectly flaky, without being overly sweet. But the best thing we had was the fig ice cream. Order it, you won't be disappointed. The restaurant itself is very nice, and has a romantic vibe to it. It was mostly empty on a Sunday evening, and the waiters were prompt without being overbearing. I would definitely go again, especially if I need a last-minute seating and don't want to wait in the cold.

Small restaurant, small value
I was disappointed in Zerza. The food was ok, but it was not a good value at all. Our appetizers (they appropriately call them "small plates") were indeed small. The main courses were even paltrier -- the lamb tagine was not sufficient, with a tiny portion of couscous; the vegetable couscous main course, which I had, was basically a carrot, a parsnip, a piece of zucchini with a few chick peas and some couscous. Not so much as a piece of pita. The flavor was good. But I left hungry.

Still delicious!
I had not been to Zerza in a couple of years but found it to be just as delightful. For starters we had the lentil soup and the Bourekas (spinach pastries with pine nuts, raisins & feta cheese). Both were delicious! For our mail course, my husband had the Couscous Lamb Berber (traditionally steamed couscous, topped with lamb & stewed vegetables) and I had the Mrouzia Beef Short Ribs (long simmered beef short ribs with prunes and roasted almonds). Both were excellent and the flavors were spot-on. For dessert we had flour-less chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream that was warm, gooey and oh-so-good! Our waitress was very nice as were the bus boys. We will definitely be going back soon.

Welcome back!
When we heared this restaurant was moving to a new location we got worried that the food might change!...but when we tried it last night, we couldn't be happier! Everything we tried was amazing and we thought the new place is very nice and romantic.
