Bargain in Brooklyn
I've been to the restaurant several times in recent months. Fantastic value. Food is really good -- highly recommend the appetizer platter. And sitting out in the back garden is very pleasant.

Great!
I've always ordered delivery and had always wanted to go eat in. Tonight we did and it was wonderful. It makes a world of difference. Everything is fresh and delicious. The chicken schwarma sandwich was delectable and the baklava hit the spot! The atmosphere was really nice, with pretty nice decor. We were going to eat in the garden but it was a bit packed and smokey so we opted for inside. The service was attentive and the food came out quick. Well worth eating in.

Love It
Love this place. Great value for money. Delicious fresh food. Have never been dissapointed with anything on the menu apart from the veggie burger is not the best but who needs a veggie burger when you have all the other delicious veggie food on the menu! Great garden outside. Since going i have found the service has improved and there is not so much of a wait for the food. Great all round!

Great food, lousy service
Went opening week and was met with Keystone Kop "service." but the food was outstanding. Went back a second time after a few weeks (hoping that the waitstaff had time to figure out the mechanics of taking an order, putting in the order, and then bringing what you ordered to you) but was once again burned by really awful service. We got up and left after waiting 25 minutes at our table for someone to acknowledge our presence. Bzzt. Ow. Bzzt. Ow. Bzzt. Ow. In the interim, we have ordered food for delivery and that has been a much better plan. Just for fun (because we are masochists), we went there a few weeks ago, and guess what? That's right. We got up and left after about about 20 minutes of the invisibility cloaking device surrounding us. By the by, there were only 2 tables with diners there, so it wasn't a crazy night. Bzzt. Ow. For the last time. I really hope the Zaytoon's management reads these reviews, because it is a shame that service is still shockingly awful at this location. The other locations seem to have it buttoned up, but not on Vandy. Oh no. Far from it. Order in. Get the falafel. Happier for everyone.

As close to homemade as it gets.
My husband and I went here on a Saturday night in search of some decent Mediterranean cuisine close to our aprartment. We're obsessed with Mamoun's in the Village and consider ourselves connoissuers of cheap and delicious Middle Eastern food. We were not disappointed at Zaytoons. The portions were large, the service was good, and the food was spectacular. My husband's family is Middle Eastern, so we're accustomed to the quality food that comes only with years of experience, and Zaytoons lived up to our high standards. We ordered the kibbeh and the chicken kabob platter. The rice is to die for and the hummus is on a par with the hummus we make at home. Absolutely delicious. We'll certainly be back.

Try out their terrific grill
Not sure why this isn't getting higher reviews, except it's not a fancy place. You know: plastic water glasses, no tablecloths. But you get a great value and the service is helpful and prompt. All the food is well seasoned, the portions are huge, and everything they cook on the grill, from tuna to chicken, comes out tasting delicious and perfectly done (I hate it when I slice open my tuna and it looks like a slab of sashimi Zaytoon's does it with just the right amount of pink in the middlei). If I could make only one suggestion it' would be to turn down the volume on the music a little, especially when the place is crowded.

Incredible Food
We went to the Smith St. location on a Friday night and were seated immediately. The place is kinda small, but they also have some sidewalk seating. The pita bread is made fresh- you can see the chefs making it before your very eyes! We ordered the appetizer combo plate, which was a great deal for only $9. You can choose up to 5 appetizers for the combo (falafel, cucumber-yogurt, fatoosh salad, babaghanoush and hummus). The cucumber-yogurt was amazing and the hummus was one of the best I've had in the city. For our main dishes, we ordered chicken shwarma sandwich and the shrimp kabob. The chicken and shrimp were both so well marinated with spices, and they were thick and juicy pieces. We were stuffed by the end and still had leftovers. They give you so much food! While the service can be a bit sloppy, the food here is the draw. Definitely gonna go back!
