Good but loud
Zampa was good and the food was very fresh, the bruschetta was some of the best I've had as was the lasagna. However, it's never a good sign when the waiter announces at the beginning of the meal "I'm going to shout at you all night" because it was so loud. I couldn't hear myself speak or the person next to me. While the noise eventually calmed down, I'm not sure the food outweighed the noise level.

Better than expected
They were packed when my dog and I walked by their open door. I wanted something to eat and take home, and a lovely waitress came to the door, brought me a menu, and graciously offered water for me and my dog. She suggested the Lasagna (a special) which was excellent if a smaller portion than I wished for. It was delish. Also I took a portion of their caponata. It was different, interesting, and also excellent. This is certainly a spot I would adopt for regular lunches.

Great Service
Went the other night for some wine and cheese, sat at the bar and the bartender was both knowledgeable and friendly. I was looking for a dry, crisp white wine and took his suggestion - he promptly asked if I like the wine and I replied that it was sweet - he tried it and promptly said the wine had gone bad and replaced with a wine of our choice. No grumbling on his part, he was actually embarrassed....great service - cheese plate was ok.....unfortunately we had already eaten but will go back and test the menu.

Phenom tasty tidbits
All I can say is abfab! Finally an unpretentious place where the staff knows their stuff in this hood but is still elegant and all at reasonable prices. My tops are the speck and bressola, and the tuna tartare.

bland!
not that good! we ordered a trio of crostinos, all pretty bland; pork panini - it needed a sauce - way too dry; and the special of the day - the red snapper - again bland! overall- not worth the price.

I love this place
I get lunch here all the time! Love, love, love the sandwiches. Especially the Italien Tuna sandwich on whole wheat bread...

Dontchya Wanta Wanta - Zampa Zampa
This place is perfect - they repeat the same high quality of food time and time again - their ingredients are always fresh, soups are amazing, service is fine, nothing to brag about - I go there with my buddy from work - we both get soup and a sangwhich, no drinks and the bill is $35 - $40 and change with tip - yea, that's kind of annoying but then again its NYC and I guess I'm just used to blindly shelling out $25 for a soup and sangwhich - whattygonnado??? It's in my rotation though, once a week - so that's what’s up...
