    Great for sangria!

Fun atmosphere though the wait is quite long if you come later (especially on Fri/Sat). Sangria is superb and the waiters and staff are personable and talkative. Great for drinks.

    Loco Tuesday Tapas!

Tuesday, Tapas are half off til 8:00 PM! So I found out upon getting the menu. For that reason, thinking I'd get a light lunch, I ordered the tres empanadas and a side of yuca fries. Figured that being a tapa it'd be three small empanadas. Hehehe. Never had to eat dinner given the trio were actually -very- good sized as was the portion of fries. I noticed as tables around me filled up with people not already finished with meals that all the orders coming out were huge. In other words, you can get a lot of food for the price, and tapas on Tuesday are a great deal. ANyways, The food itself is very good, though I would probably go with a salad next time to accompany the fries just because of the fried-food overload. Yuca fries are definitely worth trying if you haven't - a cross between regular fries with a hint of onion ring. Very tasty. The empanadas too were very good. I could have done without them being served in guacamole\chiles\some sort of salsa but it looked good and had I liked guac or chiles it would have been great. Still, served as they were, with different color of empanada shells, made for a very colorful and attractive meal which though perhaps not that important overall does make a positive impression. The atmosphere of the restaurant itself is also nice. Airy (except for the very tight bathrooms), nice paintings on the walls... They have a whole section in the back cordoned off during lunch apparently but I know that at night it gets really crowded having passed by it before. Service is the only thing that was a bit ...eh. The waitress only took my order someone from the kitchen always brought out food. I had to ask constantly for refills even though the waitress would be standing right there (indeed, I was seated just next to where they put in orders and where they keep the water pitchers). Not a big deal I suppose but a bit annoying. Overall, great place to go when you're really really hungry and wants something a little different without breaking the bank too badly.

    It's gone downhill

I've been to Yuca twice before and it used to be good. This time around, the service and food was noticeably much worse. From the get-go, the hostess flat-out lied to us continuously about where we were on the waiting list and how long the wait was. I realize she's just doing her job to keep people there, but it was as if management had told her to do anything to make sure people don't leave. Not surprising considering we wound up waiting an hour and a half for a table. Once we sat down, the waiter was relatively unfriendly and very inflexible when it came to substitutions or slight variances to what was the on the menu. The food was mediocre at best. And they were out of coffee. OUT OF COFFEE! At 10pm! Sad to say I will not be returning ever as this used to be a pretty good restaurant.

    2 thumbs down

subpar service, stiff yuca fries and my 2 drinks had to get redone went there for the cevice but it was a failed appetizer. i guess the value was the best for all the trouble we had even sitting down and then having to rush out for more food elsewhere. 2 thumbs down

    Fun place to eat

I've been to Yuca Bar twice, for dinner and for brunch, and both times I was pretty satisfied. At dinner I had a tuna ceviche, which was awesome, if not a little small, and at brunch I had their version of eggs benedict with yuca fries and a bloody Mary, which were totally delicious. It's pretty trendy, but not so trendy that it feels out of anyone's league, and they play really good music too. I'd definitely recommend it, and I definitely want to go back again.
