    Appalling

Was at the restaurant for dinner. Tab came out to $378 w/ $55 gratuity included for less then tasty food. Paid $400 and did not ask for change. Still sitting at table drinking and asking to order more drinks when we were advised to leave, 2 hr limit at the table, that is posted on the web site. I was completely appalled at this request, never experienced such service at any establishment.

    Slow service not very friendly

My Husband and I heard about Yuca bar and decided to try it. We usually go to their competitor located about 1 block away. The service is 100 times better there( they treat you like family) but the food is better at Yuca Bar. The staff at Yuca bar seemed to be more concerned with catching up with their daily gossip then making sure we had what we needed.Thank god the food was amazing so it made up for the lack of service.I work in the hotel industry so service is important to me.I guess on my next trip to Yuca bar my tip will reflect that.

You have to try to have service this poor!

I've gone a few times for brunch and the food is tasty but the service is consistently slow and the waitresses all have poor attitudes - which I was able to look past and continue to tip well and bring friends - until this last time. I went with two other ppl on Saturday and the host said it would be a 10 min. wait. We ordered cocktails at the bar only after 25 minutes did we notice that everyone walking in (from 2-tops to 4-tops) were getting seated right away. Still in good spirits, we asked the host about our wait time and instead of apologizing for forgetting about us, he had major attitude and said that we were a 3-top and he couldn't seat us until our 4th got there. We said there was no 4th person, it was just us, and we're all here and ready. He walked away without a word. We sat back down at the bar and then it became apparent that he had no intention of seating us at all. Another 10 minutes went by and now there were some empty tables, plus ppl walking in and getting seated, and still nothing. He wouldn't look at us and seemed on a power trip. I have no clue why, we were nothing but polite. We finally left. There is no reason to ever treat good customers that way!

    happy hour

hey, we,a group of about 10 go there on a weekly basis for happy hour. freddy makes the best mojitos ever. table service is a little spotty and snooty so we stick to the bar and appetizers near the open windows and we have a great time . even when it gets crowded the guests are polite and accommodating. a favorite by far.

Great food not so great service.

Food was great but felt like server ignored us on too many occasions. Service gets worse the more crowded it is.

    Good food & decent service.

Went to Yuca Bar as part of dinner and a movie, very thin crowd which made for good service. Good foor and great drink specials.

    Very lively, very Latino!

Sure, like any good place, it gets crowded, but that only adds to its livelihood. In fact, it is very typical of Latinos to have crowded places with people being loud and laughing and drinking. If you're not into that, then this place is not for you. The service was great! We were told we had to wait 30 minutes to be seated, but I swear we waited less. The waitress took our orders immediately after seating us. The arepas are exquisite! My tropical salad was delicious and the fruits were very fresh. Even their fries were the best I've ever tried! And for my fellow vegetarians out there, this place is very veggie-friendly. There are so many options! My only complaint is that the drinks are really expensive. But then again, that's the case in most NYC restaurants. I only tried their mojito, which wasn't bad at all, but I've had better. Overall, great place if you're looking for a lively, upbeat place, and a variety of Latin American cuisines.
