Delicous but tiny (and I don't mean the place)
I ordered sashmi to go and it was definitely tasty and fresh, except the pieces are WAY tiny. And they charge you an extra $.50 for brown rice?

We love it
Our office has ordered from Yoshi at least twice a week for over 2 years and we think its the freshest and yummist. We love their unique rolls and tell all our friends to go there. Dont listen to the haters.. we are foodies and love Yoshi's food!

No!!
Yuck! We ordered from there, and what came tasted like soggy mush. So much so that my boyfriend thought they salmon roll was made with mayo because the consistency was so off. What a waste of money and stomach space.

Mediocre at best
Agree with the other reviewer that the ratings for this place are way out of line with reality. We trekked all the way out here from the UWS on the basis of the high ratings - and for what? If I lived around the corner and was feeling lazy, it would be ok. The food wasn't inedible, just below par and nothing special. The rolls all tasted kind of the same and the sashimi was better but still expensive for what we got (for a couple of bucks extra we could have gone somewhere much nicer). Teriyaki sauce was watery. And unless you like blaring top-40 dance music, the atmosphere is unappetizing too.

Looking for good food near Tompkins Square Park
I was seeing a punk show in Tompkins Square Park across the street, & had some time in between bands, so I wanted to get something GOOD to eat. I saw this place right across the street fron the park, it looked nice, the menu looked good, so I went in. I am SO glad I did! The food I had was amazing! For an appetizer I had the Yellowtail Jalapeno, & for lunch I had the Shrimp Noodle soup! Absolutely delicious! It was so good that I ate there the next time I came into the city! I highly recommend this establishment!!!

Ordered out... bleh at best
These reviews are insane, or written by people from Iowa. Yoshi is no better or different than your run of the mill crappy sushi join on the upper east side... everything is a california roll (sign one of McDonalds sushi), the fish was more or less tasteless, their salad is iceberg. The spider roll we got actually tasted like it was cooked in 5 day old oil. Long story short I've been searching for a place to replace Kura Sushi (one of the best in the EV for a long time), this ain't even close. -rt
