Great, Inventive Food
Ate an incredibly enjoyable meal at Yerba Buena tonight. The calamari appetizer is delicious--coated in blue cornmeal crust and soaked with a delicious vinegary sauce. We fought over the last tentacle. Guacamole topped with speckles of queso fresco was delicious. Black bass with corn puree was also outstanding. Nuevo latino can be a bit offputting, but tonight's meal was outstanding. I recommend the food at this restaurant highly. Be careful of the trip hazard at the front door. I almost wiped out, and the hostess mentioned that many of the guests have the same problem. Otherwise, enjoy!

deeply unappealing place, good food
Have been several times and can say the food is quite good: very tasty, original, well presented. Good cocktails as well. Watermelon fries were (surprisingly) delicious. Also very nice and helpful waitress both times. HOWEVER... last time was kept waiting for ONE HOUR past reservation time. Neither hostess nor owner/manager checked in with us while we were waiting at the cramped bar. Hostess only apologized "sorry about that," as we were seated - no offer to buy us a drink, comp an appetizer, nothing. This is completely unacceptable. Also, the place was packed with douchey guys with too much hair gel and their shirts open halfway down their chests, accompanied by packs of shrill ex-sorority girls. The food is good and original, but I don't think I'll be back. Can only recommend to go early on a weekday before it's overwhelmed with the B&T-looking crowd.

new West Village gem!!
I had dinner at Yerba Buena Perry on a Saturday night with 7 friends. I had never heard of the place and had no idea what to expect. We had a GREAT time! The food was delicious - Great finger foods to share at first like great guac and perfect little cheesey croquetes - Great ceviche, etc. The real surprise was the seriously professional bar! Fresh fruits and herbs (like yerba -which i had never even heard of before) muddled into the drinks. Very tasty. Staff was friendly and attentive. Decor was cool - kind of plantation style meets Tribeca (palm plants and semi industrial lighting). Kind of sexy - would be good for a date except it was pretty loud - but maybe that was because it was saturday night. i'll def go back...

Not worth the price
While the location is great, the service was so pushy and rushed, it really ruined my experience. My entree was tasty, but appetizer, and sides were not good. They pushed the watermelon fries, which were soggy, and all fried coating. You couldn't even taste the watermelon. Our waitress rushed us to order, was extremely unknowlegable about the menu, and the staff tried repeatedly to take our plates away even though we weren't finished.

Delicious! Flavorful latin food with amazing service.
My husband and I ate here the first week it opened. There were absolutely NO "new" restaurant issues. The food was delicious and extremely flavorful; the prices were very reasonable; the service was great- they constantly came over to make sure everything was great (including the owner). We will definitely be back - many times!
