Great Fish for Delivery
I order the fish entrees (haven't tried the sushi) at least once a week and it's so addictive. I've tried the trout, salmon and snapper, all fantastic and come with really fresh veggies. The dumplings are also quite good.

Flavorless
I just got home from lunch at Yamato and I must say I was very disappointed. I was with a friend and we both got the lunch special - I had Shrimp and Vegetable Tempera and she had the Trout. The meal started off well with miso soup, but once the entrees arrived we were not impressed. Both dishes were flavorless and I still have a strange metallic taste in my mouth.

My Favorite Sushi in the City!
Yamato is truly outstanding. The fish is extremely fresh (always in our experience), the service is excellent, the place is attractive and certainly good for a date. We highly recommend the nigori sake and anything sushi (salmon in particular). Not cheap, but quality rarely is. Definitely worth it!

mixed feelings
I've been several times after a number of uber-positive recommendations and have mixed feelings. The restaurant's special rolls are really quite good and inventive, but for a price and I always get the feeling that they are skimming costs. Several of their special rolls, including the firecracker roll , lover's roll, and norwegenthan are very good but pricey ($11-12) and smaller in size than at other sushi places. Also, I always get red wine with food there and they always skimp out on that which annoys me considering that it is not exactly the most expensive wine in the world that they are serving. One time I tasted the wine and it seemed vinegary and when I mentioned to staff they looked at me like I was making it up. So, fun for rolls, especially the first two-three times, but then their novelty wears thin and they don't seem so special anymore. Also worth noting that the sushi chefs are Chinese and not Japanese at this restaurant.

Fantastic Sushi
I have yet to find a sushi place I like more than Yamato. Everything is fresh and the special rolls are quite creative. Every time someone comes to visit, this is the place I take them because it has great food and is not too pricey. Highly recommended.

my favorite sushi in park slope
I love this place! I wish the decor was a little more romantic but you cannot beat the sushi. Best rolls! Try the Valentine and the Black Pepper.

Not so hot
This place is really hit or miss. Sometime the fish is fresh, and other times, is is just not. If are not a picky sushi eater and if you stick mainly to rolls, you will be ok. But I just ordered some sashimi and it was really subpar. Not fresh at all. All that said, sometimes the sushi is good. So, again, really hit or miss.
