Shy away from Yaffa
Yes, it's open 24 hours, but so are plenty of other places. It tries really hard to be 'funky' in a zebra striped lava lamp and glitter kind of way. Personally, that is not my taste at all and fake attitude is so tiresome. Friends have dragged me here several times (see: open 24 hours) and the food has always been bad. Not even OK. Just bad. Something you could easily make yourself, except much better and for much cheaper. I won't go again.

Funky & nice... but not efficient
I visited this place with a friend who's been there before. The berber chicken dish was delish! The chicken fingers were a bit hard, not the greatest in the world. The tiramisu and chocolate souffle... were alright for desert, but the best was the sour cream walnut pie! The waiter was friendly along with the other wait staff, but the service was VERY SLOW. We were told to order directly from our waiter to ensure that we get our items, but ........ the waiter himself was busy most of the time... We had to repeat to a couple of the wait staff and wait a while to get our items. But the decor is eccentric and funky and the patio in the back is great!

Good place for friends
I went here with a group of my friends, and I was surprised by how good the food was. Granted the atmosphere is a little ...interesting, but the Chicken Duon and Curry are delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. Besides, the atmosphere makes it a fun place to go to with friends.

Great garden, nice food
This place is fun - the patio at the back is a great spot to sit out in the sun. Service is friendly (not always too efficient) and food is pretty good (mostly). The kitsch interior is great.

A Staple
I remember going to Yaffa *years* ago and thinking it was the coolest place ever. But even though my palate has gotten a bit more sophisticated, I still get Yaffa at least a few times a month. The worst is when you're craving Yaffa, you call and they tell you they're not delivering. The best is sitting outside in the back, drinking reasonably-priced beers and eating penne with crab meat (their best dish by far - so damn good). The dumpling appetizers are at best, medicore, yet I always get them. The only carrot dressing better is Wai's. Service is fine - nothing spectacular, but not terrible - they've always been nice to me.

So Bad It's Good
OK. So I agree, the food is not their best quality. I solely go for the tackiest decor I have ever witnessed. How can you not enjoy sitting in a parallel universe so far beyond kitsch its scary? I mean, plastic grapes, velvet Elvises and cow patterned tables!! I suggest going after a meal, with good friends, for coffee and desserts.

Yaffa: it's over
We were regulars at Yaffa for years because we loved the food (salad dressing like you wouldn't believe, delicious fluffy pitas, great sandwiches, yummy desserts), the atmosphere was cute, and it's close to home. Sadly, after thousands of dollars (probably) and hours spent there, the service has become so unappealing, that we will not go back. It's hard as we used to go there at least once a week and we haven't found anywhere to replace it, but I felt truly disrespected the last few times and I can't return. Really depressing.
