rip off!
Don't order from them. They will charge you about $5 more than what the menu says. I paid on a stir fry dish normally $7.95 $11.95 Then to my amazement I found just a handful of rice under the vegetables. This was the second chance I gave them.

it is what it is
Although I've never found the food to be anything special, and the service is always inattentive at best, I always manage to come back. It's very veg-friendly, and the patio is great in warm weather.

Girl from New Jersey Sez
Ok, from my rating you probably think I don't get out much and that I'm just hanging out in the "parking lot". Back up off my bumper buddy! Yaffa Cafe is where I always hit up just about every week and sometimes several times a week for the coffee, the salads, and their chicken dishes. I have to say, those and the choices of dressings are exquisit. Yes, a 27 year old uses that word. If you're looking for a quiet, but very decorative atmosphere, this is the place. Open 24 hours seven days a week. You should really try their selection of red wines. No matter what I'm eating, that will always satisfy my pallet. If anyone working here or who owns it is reading, THANK YOU! You have given me a regular spot and I will keep coming.

great atmosphere, decent food & service
My subject line says it all. It's the first place a tourist will go if they come to enjoy the East Village experience, and it's certainly not bad. As someone who lives in the area, I only go when I'm bringing someone from the burbs with me and want to show off the neighborhood.

Great Courtyard
Yaffa's courtyard patio is truly a highlight of the warm weather months. The food is pretty good and is a great value. I would stick to lunch and dinner. Their brunch is nothing to write home about, the pancakes are pretty bad and their fruits and salads seem pre-packaged and defrosted. Somehow this all changes at dinner where the food is actually wonderful and very fresh. Ask to sit outside!

Bad Brunch, good atmosphere
We came here for Sunday Brunch cause we couldn't get a table at Mogador, Westville, or Yuca. The service was fine and atmosphere cool, but the food was bad. The OJ and coffee, both of which come with brunch, are sad the OJ is in a glass the size of a shot glass and they don't come around and fill your coffee. Also my friend's omelet had a striking resemblance to an airplane omelet. I just had eggs and hashbrowns and it was honestly the smallest portion (ordered from a brunch menu) that I've had in a while. Although the waiter was nice, he would not substitute anything for our toast b/c we were observing Passover. Very surprising and disappointing considering we were speaking to him the whole time in Hebrew and we thought he'd at least hook a brother up.

Cute Spot
If you're looking for great food and atmosphere, Yaffa's is the place to be. I love their outdoor area which is cozy and funky at the same time. I highly recommend any pasta dish as well as the chicken dijon. YUM. Very affordable.
