What A Pleasant Surprise
We made an unplanned stop by the Woolworth Tower Kitchen on a date on recent Thursday and what a pleasant surprise it was. The room is an elegant throw back to another time when of a grander New York existed. Even more surprising was the excellent live jazz band - consisting of a saxophone and piano- that was included as compiementary part of of the evening. The food was very good- large portions and reasonably priced- especially considering the quality. The service was pleasant and very attentive. All in all, a great place for a memorable and affordable romantic evening

Twice pleased
Dined for the second time here, the first time before an event at Pace University just across the park, the second when we found ourselves in the neighborhood and stopped in for a bite to eat. It remains a very pleasant, good solid place for dinner - with attentive, gracious (if sometimes slow) service, very pleasant atmosphere with a kind of old world charm to it - and importantly, really good satisfying consistent food. Sometimes you just can't ask for more.

Cream overdose and a headache
It looked promising when we walked in; the saxaphone player, a throw back to the 20's, but 15 minutes into the dinner I wanted to walk out. The space is not meant for a saxaphone, it has terrible accoustics, my friend and I had to shout at each other to maintain our conversation. The waitress was cold and unattentive, our food (2 appatizers) took insanely long to come out. The lobster mac and cheese, while it had wonderful fresh chunks of lobster in it, was drowning in cream - very heavy and runny. Not going back ever again.

very, very impressed
I held a party there on the anniversary of 9/11 with 60 folks from out of town( here for the ceremony). We walk in and were greeted by such nice staff, the owner is wonderful - and the food was so yummy. Everyone was very pleased with their food and we were really taken care of. We will be going back there year after year.. the pasta was great and I am italian and a life long new yorker! Would highly recommmend this place.. great value for NYC.

Terrible Website, but good food & value
How frustrating to come to a website that doesn't disclose the daily hours! Worse still, when I called the telephone number, a fax machine answered! Thinking it was a confusion, I dialed the fax number only to hear "this number is not in service". I doubt the owners have actually tried to use their own website, but I hope they didn't pay too much... As for the food, nothing to rave on about, but it is a great spacious interior with a beautiful bar and attentive wait staff. One wonders just how good this restaurant could be with a greater attention to quality - starting with the website!

Gem
In downtown there really aren't a lot of choices. This is such a refreshing change of pace. The pork dumplings are out of sight!!! I'm a big fan.
