I did takeout, but I fully understand why this restaurant garnered only 2 stars for atmosphere: it is little more than a hole in the wall, and given the location of the front door, the cashier and the kitchen, eating there must be a jostling experience. As for the food, it did not impress me at all. I ordered Pad Kra Tiam, a fairly tame dish, expressly to avoid the potential nuclear threat that often exists at Thai joints. Usually, Thai restaurants manage to respond with food that is flavorful but not so spicy as to necessitate medical treatment. Wondee failed. The dish was simply bland and charmless. The only flavor that shone through was the oil in which the pork and veggies had been fried. With so many other Thai options in Hell's Kitchen, I know I will not be returning.

I have been going to this place for several years... the food is as good as ever, but the service has definitely deteriorated. ....yes the place is tiny, but they rush you out the door the moment you eat your last mouthful. The last time I was there, we were even willing to order dessert to linger a bit longer and were told we couldn't! I stick to takeout now.

I'm not sure whether there are new owners, but the service has definitely eroded. Food is fantastic ,but last time we went, we waited and waited and waited for menus despite asking several times, the wrong orders came out, and no one bothered to refill our water glasses.

Food this authentic/flavorful at these prices makes wondee siam the best thai value in NYC. worth the long wait for delivery. if you find zero decor to be charming, you can BYO to the lower of the two locations.

I just ordered from this restaurant for lunch. The food was not bad, but I've certainly had better. In fact it was fairly tasty. HOWEVER. The order was wrong when it arrived. As a result I called to see if it could be remedied. This would be fine except for the fact that, the woman who answered the phone actually argued with me about the restaurant's mistake. After a long discussion, she said that they would redelivered. Although it took some time, the food was in fact redelivered. Again, the food is not bad, but the service was subpar. Try it at your own risk. But, I think that there are too many restaurants that get it right everytime or try to make it right (without arguing with you) for me to try this one again. Sorry, this was a thumbs down for me.

As seasoned Thai food addicts, we travel across town to this good-value Thai at least twice a month. Nothing else we have tried comes close to the quality of the food here. Fresh, perfectly cooked seafood Thai curries, fantastic tod mun and regular tasty specials including a stunning steamed mussels starter. Contrary to some of the other reviews on this site, we are have always found the service to be cheerful and attentive. Highly recommended.
