    Best PAd THAI in town

My friend and I love this place. The service is great, the food is great. At first I didn't like how small it was but now, I think it is very cozy.

Another long time delivery customer has been lost

I have ordered from Wondee Siam delivery for the past 15 years and it's always been great until this. As of a month ago, they no longer send rice with their dishes unless you pay the rice tax. As the previous reviewer said, it's $1.50 or $2 extra. FOR RICE. It doesn't matter that on their CURRENT delivery menu it says "all dishes served with rice." They don't send rice anymore and when we called, they actually didn't even give us the option to get it. We just ordered three entrees and they were delivered, each with no accompanying rice. We called to let them know they forgot it and they said they don't send rice anymore for free, even though that's what their menu says. WTF? I have ordered from them for almost 15 years, but now this will be the last time. $10.50 for a couple of pieces of meat and sauce? Ah yeah, no thanks.

Great Food But Lost A Very Long-Time Customer B/C of their "Rice Tax"

I have eaten at most of the numerous Thai places on ninth and wondee is really one of the best. Their duck dishes are especially fabulous. The salads are delish as well. Service is above averagel however they unnecessarily pack in the tables even by manhattan standards. Alas, my love affair with Wondee is over. For some reason, they have decided to charge for white rice (i think $1.50 or $2), for dishes which it was previously included and have upped the price on the brown rice. Previously subbing brown rice instead of the free white rice was $1 extra...now it is $2.50 which is ridiculous as they know no one is going to eat many of these dishes without rice. Thanks for the memories...about 5 years of great thai.....i will let the one off tourist customers absorb the ridiculous "rice tax".

    do not order here

For the second time in a row they forgot to send things that I ordered. I am still waiting and my food has gone cold while they send somebody else...never again

    It's about the food.

Pay no attention to the reviews of Wondee Siam that whine about the atmosphere or service; that's not what this place is about. This is one of the better Thai restaurants in NYC in terms of food. Yes, it's cramped and the service can be spotty but there are a number of dishes that are outstanding. For starters, try the Tom Ka soup or the Tod Mun Pla fritters. For main dishes, the Nam Sod is excellent. Spicy with a nice citrusy blast of lime, as long as you don't mind red onions. The curries are all good, especially the red. My favorite dish there is the Prad Kra Prow, but try it "Thai Style", with minced chicken or pork. This location is a little better than the one on the other side of the street but smaller.

    Mourning the Loss

Wondee used to be the best Thai restaurant in New York. However, on my last two visits, my opinioon has changed drastically. I was seated first under the heating vent, which blew cold air on me. Then, I ws moved to a spot where the cold air from the door hit me every time it opened. The beef in the green curry was good for shoe leather, but not for eating. The man who seemed to be in charge paced back and forth looking at the customers plates, apparently in an effort to move them out faster so he could seat those who were waiting. I was not asked how my food was, my check was brought, and collected without in inquiry into whether or not I wished to have dessert or tea. As I said, this used to be the best Thai restaurant in New York. Visit Lime Leaf on 72nd Street. There, the food and service are top notch.
