On a Monday evening in late June, my group of four was kept waiting at the bar for more than 40 minutes despite having a reservation. Our requests to be seated were ignored by multiple members of the staff until one of the women in our party actually spoke directly to Wolfgang about how upset we all were. The food was good, but the 40+ minute wait left a bad taste in my mouth, and I will not return any time soon.

My husband and I (obvious NYers, middle-aged professionals) chose Wolfgang's for a celebration dinner. Not a good choice. We were taken in by the connection to Peter Luger (one of our great favorites & where we should have gone that evening!). Despite having reservations, and despite an empty front room, we were led to a cave in the back of the restaurant and given a table for six (just the two of us!), with the comment, "here's a nice small table for you." Yes, we should have refused to accept the table, but then we thought, well, at least it's quiet, we have some privacy and, after all, we came for the food. Our second mistake; the steak was rare, despite our request for medium, and when we objected, the waiter gave us a song and dance and refused to take it back. Still thinking that it was going to be a great piece of meat, we moved ahead. Our third mistake. The steak was not very good, much less great, the fries were underwhelming, and the creamed spinach had little taste. I've never had to salt my food in a good steak restaurant in my life. Not recommended.

The waiters were not providing the service one would expect for a $400 lunch for 3 people. On the other hand the food was good and plentiful but as many of those in the know say "great service overcomes average food but poor service kills great food." Go with this in mind and you'll not be disappointed.

I'm pleased to share a wonderful eating and evening expierence. The food was great, Wolfgang was very gracious. The steak was the best I ever had! Go and enjoy!

Not sure where to start...the $7 mugs of beer, the warm "sizzling" bacon, empty wine choices (actual) or the eagerness of the staff to have us leave. I would highly recommend that you choose wisely when considering this place. Having a sizeable expense account, price is usually not the issue as long as quality in both food and service come your way. Neither is a strong option here. The low point of the evening and there were many was at the end of our meal we ordered an after dinner drink which was accompanied by our check, never being asked if we needed anything else or if we were done....10 minutes later the Maitre'D came over and asked us to leave since he had a reservation waiting....i guess there was no regard for the $425 that we had just spent. Although Wolfgang may have learned the business while at Luger's, I would recommend he takes the entire staff over to Brooklyn for a meal so they can all understand how it is really done.

It was a Tuesday evening and Wolfgang's was packed. We were seated at a terrific table where the service was attentive, the food was delicious, and the mood was festive. Very upscale crowd with many there to celebrate special occasions. Only name of a steakhouse you need to know is Wolfgang's!

We arrived early for our reservation during the end of Thanksgiving weekend, and we were seated promptly at a table for 2. The menu is very similar to that of Peter Lugers. The bacon was very good, though I think Lugers is better. Beefsteak tomato and onion was good with their signature Wolfgang's steaksauce. We also had a steak for 2, creamed spinach, german potatoes and sauteed onions. I regret the german potatoes and we should have went with one of fried varieties that we saw going to another table. The steak was very good, perfectly cooked medium. The waiter could have been a bit more attentive to us, asking if we wanted more drinks, water etc. Dessert was excellent - we had the hot fudge sundae. Cappucinnos were overdone (I didn't think that was actually possible). Overall a very nice dinner. I would return here and save myself a trip to Brooklyn.
