I have eaten in every steak house in NYC and elsewhere, including Calgary, Alberta, so I consider myself somewhat of an expert on steak. In short, the noise level here, combined with the 6' high ceiling, is overwhelming, you can't hear the person next to you speak. The expense account idiots and uber testosterone, combined with the above, makes it worse. Food--The rolls, stale. The tomato and onion, very good (whats to ruin). The sirloin steak I ordered RARE, comes out (with a bone), on a super hot sizzling plate, like you get when you order steak for 2,3..., and keeps cooking on the plate. I don't need sizzle, I need steak. Speaking of the steak, the bone weighs about 1/3 of the portion, I have NEVER had a sirloin steak in NY served with a bone. Steak wasn't charred on the outside, but was rare. VERY salty. Creamed spinach, no cream, no flavor, no nothing, just some gooey spinach. In all, I can eat steak anywhere, just had to try the place. You want a good steak in a good atmosphere, there are plenty of other places in town. JMHO.

I walk in and sit at the bar, waiting for my date. The bartender is talking to someone so I go outside to use the phone. As I walk back and forth from the hostess, she gives me weird looks. Finally, the bartender decides to grace me with his service. My friend arrives and we ask to be seated. The place is empty. She walks around and comes back and say, "oh you're ready to be seated?". She tries sitting us in the middle of the room, where the chairs are only on opposite sides of the table..perhaps she was jealous of the girl I was with. The waiter was never around and we didnt get water till we asked him. They never refilled the glass either. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and although the sauce doesnt require horseradish, they brought it out after we were done with the appetizers!We got the steak but he forgot one of our sides. To close it out, I still gave him a 20% gratuity. Although it was obvious I didnt want change, based on the bills I used, he's supposed to ask if I want change and say thank you. He did neither. He never even returned..neither will the BIGZ

We had fish. I never had such an unappetizing slice of Chilean Bass. We wanted hot bread and we were told they never heat the bread. Service wasn't good.

Very disappointing. No one seemed to care about what they were doing....way too much money for what you received..which was medicore.

Being tourists from Germany, we went to this place because it was recommended on the German television. We had a reservation for 8 pm but got to our table not before 8:35 The steak (porterhouse for two) was alright, but served on a cold plate. The "German potatoes" (Bratkartoffel-wannabes) are simply a joke. In Germany no one would eat this. They are burned and partially black (normally, they have to be yellow to brown and crispy). The garlic had only little spinach in it. And when we received the check, a 20% tip had been included already (we were just two), although the menu clearly says that tip is only added for parties of six or more.

Its a shame because the food was decent but the service couldn't have been worse. Really bad service all around from host, bartender, and waiter.

I've been to a few NYC Steakhouses and this was by far the worst. 8:30 reservation and we got to sit by 9:20. I can understand that it might be a bit delayed but an hour is a bit much. Well, i guess when talking about a steakhouse, the food is all you would really care about. Apps - Canadian bacon, extra thick. Where was the meat? All Fat and very chewy. Might wanna check that piece before you throw it on the grill next time. Also had the Wolfgang salad which was decent at best. basically cut up shrimp with more bacon and some tomatoes. Entree - Sirloin, Rare. Comes out m-r at best. good texture, but all you could taste was salt. If you are paying 40 for a steak, a dash of salt and pepper is all you really need to bring out the natural flavors, which should be present when paying that much. Side of spinach and potatoes which were both slapped with a handful of salt too. I would like some food with my salt next time guys! Space - very old, beautiful design and very very cramped with people. if you are looking for a partially quiet atmosphere then this is not the place. Overall, if you are not particular about your steak and dont mind shelling out money, then go here.
