Wolfgang's Steakhouse

We dined here over the Columbus Day weekend. Saul was our waiter - very nice guy. The food was magnificient. Salmon and beefsteak tomatoes with fresh mozzarella and New York strip for the gentleman. Magnifico!!

Ok, one reviewer said they went there b/c they thought it was part of wolfgang puck's group. another complained b/c he likes steak "very well done". that is amazing. what a joke. DON'T GO TO A GOOD STEAKHOUSE if you want a hockey puck steak with no flavor or a wolfgang puck fast food experience. This place has poor service and great steak. people who eat here know that.

The food is excellent, but the service is pretty bad. I've been there numerous times and i prefer my steak very well done and i stress to the waiter 'no pink' over and over. All in all i've been there probably 15-20 times and they've gotten it wrong every single time, i've had to send the steak back more than once on the same night as well. Once i get the steak cooked appropriately it is delicious, but alot of effort for no reason.

If the service were more professional, this place would be terrific. I've been a couple of times because the steak is good, but from the host to the waiters, the service is poor. There's no customer consideration. The waiters stand around, talking to each other loudly, throw the food at you, and then throw the bill. Just seems like poor management. Given how many excellent steak places there are, I'd stay away from this one.

Ten of us went to Wolfgang’s Steak House under the pretense that it is part of the Wolfgang Pucks- is not! The ambiance is fine; however, they pack people in like sardines, maybe against the fire code. The prices are high, but not off the charts, however the portions of the sides are very small. The night we went there, the kitchen could not get the steaks right in terms of wellness, and after send several steaks back several times, we decided it was time to leave. We were forced to pay the entire bill- no consideration for the poor experience-and lack of attention to detail or satisfaction. Interestingly they kept on recycling the stakes in trying to cook them appropriately. We were told we could take them home (for the dog?). Management and ownership was highly offensive and obnoxious. We felt that we were taken advantage of in the form of paying for steaks that we never ate nor received back the third time they were sent to the kitchen for proper cooking. There are many fine steakhouses in New York with great management, cooks and service- clearly this is not one and I would urge people not to go to Wolfgang’s Steak House, unless you want your meat medium raw, and are willing to have a packed, loud and generally unsafe experience.

I'm a steak lover. I've been to steakhouses in many cities and NYC in particular. None of them have topped Wolfgang's. I love the Ribeye. I go in once/month and the staff greets me as an old friend. Their take out service is excellent as well. My friends agree; anytime we have steak elsewhere, we always prefer Wolfgang's.

I stopped by with my son for lunch today and was very pleased with the food and service. The portions were large and the food was delicious. I highly recommend Wolfgang's for lunch. Although seating without a reservation was immediate, it was a good crowd and the next time I will make a reservation.
