Wo Hop was recommended from a coworker for great Chinese food in NY and it lived up to our expectations. The place is downstairs and does look scary at first, but its got great Chinese food and the prices are reasonable. Highly recommend.

Now living in Texas and had a customer mention Chinatown. I told him about the BEST Chinese food I'd ever had and described the basement establishment. He immediately said WO HOP! I have not visited NYC since June of 2001 and now HAVE TO go to Wo Hop! I have fond memories of a number of late night meals. There was a crab dish that was to die for. I remember being up to my elbows in sauce...of course that was more than 15 years ago when I worked on Wall Street. Either way, GO TO WO HOP...I'll be back soon!!

Great food at a great price. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The eggrolls, fried rice, and egg foo young were incredible. All the locals eat here, but be sure to go to the Wo Hop in the basement and not on street level. You can get two menu items, two drinks, an appetizer, and tip for under $25. That is the essence of a great value for a top notch NY meal. Go there you won't be disappointed. Don't let the appearance scare you.

The best Chinese food I have ever eaten, and I have eaten a lot. Prices are good, and lower than most other restaurants in NYC. The service was decent. The waiter never said much, just took the order and brought the food, which is really nothing to complain about. The restaurant looked more like a diner on the inside that a typical Chinese restaurant, but that didn't take away from the atmosphere. Portions were large and no one in my party of three was able to eat more than half, so expect to ask for a take home box. If you are visiting NYC, as I did, make sure to stop by Wo Hop at some point during your trip, you will be glad you did.

I try to only eat Chinese food, because I love it so much, except on Tuesdays when I prefer chicken and pasta. Anyways, I have had Chinese food all over the globe and this by far is the best Chinese food in the WORLD! And the portions are huge too! I live under 10 blocks away from this Chinatown gem, and the last time I ordered pick-up for 3 people I had to take a breather on the way home… and I frequently work out. I love this place so much. I don't have a baby yet, but when I do, I will definitely make sure that its first non breast-milk non formula meal is wonton egg drop soup broth. The 4-D chow fun is amazing. I am not sure what 4-D means, but it should mean 4 times the deliciousness!

I've been a regular at this place for over 20 years. Lately, it has also become a favorite spot of my wife, kids and others that are close to us. I no longer live in Manhattan. But, we've dined at Wo Hop at least 6 times since Christmas. As a matter of fact, my family [and whoever else wants to tag along: aunts, uncles, friends...] make the trip in every Christmas Eve to eat. Everyone looks forward to it. The food is excellent, so is the service, the Tsing Taos are always ice cold, the portions are huge and the prices are low. Try the roast duck, and/ or the 4D chow fun. The waitersare very friendly and they always try to be accomodating. Yes the place is small & loud. Yes patrons and waiters will likely be brushing by you while you eat. Yes you will almost definitely wait on line for 15-45 minutes between lunch time and 2:00 am. Yes! It's worth it. It's all part of the Wo Hop experience.
