A true Gem on the UWS!
Classic warm & inviting Wine Bar on the UWS. Staff is friendly & knowledgeable about food & wine pairings, & make the whole experience truly a pleasurable one. The thin crust pizzas are to die for, and large enough to share with friends while enjoying the multitude of choices of wine by the glass or bottle. Looking forward to the Outdoor cafe section of the bar opening- just in time for Spring. There is nothing like sitting outside while sipping your favorite glass of vino & watching a NYC sunset!

Too expensive
We had a very pleasant evening at this winebar, but it was far too expensive for the wine and food that was served. Wouldn't go back here again.

Overpriced and Underwhelming
Asked the server for a full bodied red wine and she brought an $18.00 1/4 filled glass. My companion asked if the tuna was fresh in a salad and the sever "checked" with the cooking staff who used superlatives like "straight from the ocean". It was from the can. They shoud be ashamed of themselves.

Not worth the prices
I think there are much better wines bars with better prices. This place is over the top. Skip it.

had it's ups and downs
went here for dinner last night (a wednesday night) after walking past it a few times, and it didn't quite live up to my (possibly high) expectations. even thought it was packed, the staff was very accomodating and showed us where we could sit while we waited for our table outside (which was lovely). service was great, salads and sandwiches were delicious...unfortunately, the wine selection wasn't all it could have been (for a restaurant with the word 'wine' in the name). we wanted reisling, but they didn't have even a single kind by the bottle (only had it by the glass, so we had to spend a small fortune to enjoy a bottle's worth). oh and the mixed berry tarte dessert was still frozen when they served it to us. it tasted funny and was obviously not fresh by any means. i don't think i'd recommend this restaurant to anyone for dinner.

Love It!
Wine & Roses is soooo cool. Award winning wine list. Great food. Up beat music pours out of open doors onto the sidewalk cafe. Celebrity central on weekdays. Packed every night. The proprietor Jennifer Klein is amazing! This wine bar is in a category all by itself.

great wine bar
This small wine bar on the uws is cozy and quaint. It's super busy (read: hard to get a seat) during peak hours but if you come for a glass of wine and snack in the afternoon, the seats are plentiful and the place is quiet and relaxing. The wines are delicious, though not cheap. I love the choice of cheeses and their food is delicious. The service is excellent the owner comes by with his camera and blooming roses and the staff is friendly. I would be a regular if my wallet were thicker, but it is a must go for special occasions and those weekend afternoons and nights when a glass of wine is much needed.
