Tired and true
The desserts are OK. No big deal. The service could be a lot quicker and friendlier. There are so many other better places to go, that I feel this place just can't compete.

Meh
Wm Greenberg's shop frequently pops up on lists of bakeries in Manhattan, but there's nothing exceptional about the goods there. The pastries neither look especially appealing nor taste particularly good. Many of the pastries are just too dry. And most items are overpriced (but I guess that's to be expected given the location).

A NY Institution That Won't Let You Down
Trendy restaurants come and go in NYC but William Greenberg Desserts has been around for over 60 years and never disappoints. My favorites are the out-of-this-world, melt-in-your-mouth raspberry Linzer tarts. Unbelievable!! Of course it goes without saying that Greenbergs is the home of the best black & white cookie available in NYC. I love the homey feel of the shop and the friendly ladies who are always there to greet and help you out. This is the perfect place for visitors to go to experience a real NY classic, especially since it's a block away from the Metropolitan Museum.
