Mediocre Mexican (not bad for NYC though).
Let me start with I have had much worse Mexican food in NYC than White Horse Tavern. On my visit I ordered the Chile Relleno with wild mushrooms and cheese and a side of guacamole. The guac' had a good amount of chiles in it giving it a decent spice, but little or no salt and citrus making it ultimately bland compared to what I am used to. The relleno tasted good, but the mushrooms made the whole thing very watery and kind of unappealing on the plate. Better preparation of those would've made it much better.

Yummy Bar Food
Food is tasty and cheap. They get you on the drinks. A neat place with some history behind hit and a fun atmosphere.
