Was there twice and was not disappointed either time. The spare ribs melted off the bone, very tender and tasty. The crab cakes were the best I ever tasted. Given a chance this restaurant is going to be around for a long time. The owner has his heart & soul into this place and I can't think of any more important ingredients for success then those. GOOD LUCK West Side Steakhouse and for those who don't like it, go be negative at your own restaurant(because I believe that is where you are from) and let other people have your seat to enjoy it, because they will!!

    Reason why it is empty

Not that great a deal when you think about it. Their calamari is $9 compared to about $12 for some of the best in the city at other places. The $22 steak tasted like a $22 steak and was overcooked (they should err on the side of under-cooked as you can always cook more). My rare steak was medium and I did not have the heart to send it back as there is nothing they could do but prepare another one. The sides are fairly priced but unremarkable. A burger here is $15 - basically what you would pay at the best steakhouses. The slab bacon is supposed to be priced per additional slice after one order, but the waitress just announced we wanted two orders when we asked for two additional slices (difference of only a couple of bucks but evidence of the type of service where the staff doesn't even know the menu). They say grand opening but it has been open for a while and they should have kinks worked out by now. It is a good concept but likely will not be open long considering the food and service.

OK for what it is, but just OK

BF and I went here to give it a shot and it wasn't bad, but it wasn't all it is cracked up to be below. The Porterhouse was good but ribeye was basically a supermarket steak cooked in a home broiler. The meat was not flavorful and it did not have any steakhouse "char". The calamari was ok but no tentacles means not fresh. Crab cakes were bad. Garlic Mashed was good but mushrooms were nothing special. The prices are much less than the average steakhouse, but so is the food. Waitress was a sweetheart but a bit clueless.

    great steak

Walked by with friends on saturday and decided to try it. Food was outstanding--from the appetizers we all shared to the great steaks. Service was great and the bill was a lot less than we usually get for a soup to nuts steak meal like this. I highly recommend this to everyone--a real find!

Had the most delicious meal here last night. Excellent service. Immaculate. Warm atmosphere. No wine served-in process of getting liquor licence. State dragging their feet. When we asked if we can BYOB owner explained that that too is against law without a license and they are not taking any chances. But we will definitely go back anyway.Even without the wine. Food is worth it.

    No wine steakhouse

Food was good and value is there as the prices are reasonable. But there is no excuse for a no wine steakhouse. For whatever reason, this place does not allow byob while they wait for their liquor license, so in the meantime you have to eat steak with water or soda, which is unacceptable. I question some of the below reviews as they are a bit too rosey - the place was dead when we went which doesn't make for a festive spot, and often when people go for steak it is for an occassion (and they want a drink). Not here.

Love the simplicity of this new steakhouse! A warm welcome followed by a warm basket of soft herb scented rolls. Fresh lemon slices in our water. mmm...so far ,so good! We started with the crab cakes... loaded with fresh crab & classic breadcrumb crust - great! Then onto lamb chops that were grilled to perfection & flavorful. We added to sides. Grilled asparagus with a balsamic reduction...perfection. A heaping portion of happy creamed spinach .. more yum! I had the perfect cappuccino & we shared a generous portion of key lime pie, which was sort of like a deep dish key lime torte. It was a perfect ending to a great meal. Be patient, this place is working on it's liquor license & the owner does not color outside the lines - no byob, but don't wait for the paper chase. This place is a yummy find.
