    What a surprise

We came from Canada for a week in NYC and came upon this place quite by accident. It was the best food I had in the city! I had the steak and my priest friend had the filet.

    Great new place!

I had dinner at the West Side Steakhouse last Friday with two friends and it was terrific! The service, ambiance and food were first rate! We had a Cold Seafood Platter as an appetizer that was outstanding and for dinner a Rib-eye and porterhouse for two that was cooked to perfection! Some delicious sides were spinach, hash browns and mashed potatoes, all great. We then had dessert which also was outstanding. The service was friendly and efficient and did a great job recommending wine and after dinner drinks. The prices were very reasonable for a steakhouse in Manhattan. Great value! A wonderful dining experience and I will surely return! Highly recommend it!

    A big fat disappointment!

Work close by & tried it out for lunch. Though, the prices seemed a little high for the neigborhood, I decided to try the roast beef sandwich with horseradish and fries. Well, the fries were good, the bun was soft, but the sandwich -- was disappointing. There was so much horseradish (and I love horseradish) that 50 or more throats would have been burnt! The roast beef was rubbery & a weird color. Wouldn't go back & couldn't recommend it to anyone!

Steak house is a nice addition to Hells kitchen

Live in the neighborhood and noticed a grand opening for a new steak house. We stopped in and sat down for lunch. Ordered filet mignon ,it was great ,cooked to perfection , asparagus was great. My friend ordered a spicey seafood and pasta dish that she raved about. The place was almost empty but the atmosphere was nice. The down side was the service level. Our waitress was not well versed in customer service at all. She did not ask us if we needed anything and went off to eat her lunch at a table in the back. Hopefully she will get it right soon. The guy that seemed tobe running the place was nice and asked if we were ok. I hope the place makes it because it is really has great potential. Good Luck

    An Honest Review

I lived in Manhattan for many years and returned to visit with some old friends. This restaurant was new to us all. Honestly, the food was fabulous, and the service was first rate. My salmon was fresh and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was relaxing and conducive to great conversation. I enjoyed a lovely glass of wine, and I brought home a steak for my husband, which he loved! I wish there had been a delicious and reasonably priced restaurant like this near to me when I lived in Manhattan. Best of luck to the owners!

Was there twice and was not disappointed either time. The spare ribs melted off the bone, very tender and tasty. The crab cakes were the best I ever tasted. Given a chance this restaurant is going to be around for a long time. The owner has his heart & soul into this place and I can't think of any more important ingredients for success then those. GOOD LUCK West Side Steakhouse and for those who don't like it, go be negative at your own restaurant(because I believe that is where you are from) and let other people have your seat to enjoy it, because they will!!

    Reason why it is empty

Not that great a deal when you think about it. Their calamari is $9 compared to about $12 for some of the best in the city at other places. The $22 steak tasted like a $22 steak and was overcooked (they should err on the side of under-cooked as you can always cook more). My rare steak was medium and I did not have the heart to send it back as there is nothing they could do but prepare another one. The sides are fairly priced but unremarkable. A burger here is $15 - basically what you would pay at the best steakhouses. The slab bacon is supposed to be priced per additional slice after one order, but the waitress just announced we wanted two orders when we asked for two additional slices (difference of only a couple of bucks but evidence of the type of service where the staff doesn't even know the menu). They say grand opening but it has been open for a while and they should have kinks worked out by now. It is a good concept but likely will not be open long considering the food and service.
