What happened here?
This has always been our go-to place for the 42nd Street theaters. Good-enough food, pleasant service and they get you out on time. What happened? A holiday weekend, a snippy waitress with a chip on her shoulder and suddenly the good enough food wasn't good enough to put up with the nastiness. Too bad.

Wonderful pre-theatre dinner
We chose this restaurant based on other reviews here. We were not disappointed. All of our dinners were excellent and the service was exceptionally accommodating about getting our food with plenty of time to eat and relax before an 8pm showing. The lemon vinaigrette on the salad was amazing. We would definitely go back.

Wonderful friendly restaurant
We've been here quite a few times over the past few years and it just keeps getting better.

Always reliable
It's all about the location. If you're going to eat in one of the West 42nd Street theaters, you can't do better than the West Bank. Good-enough food, an appealing if unexciting menu, and a waitstaff that will get you out in time for the show. What do you want before the theater, Le Bernardin?

Excellent
We had dinner after seeing a show on a Sunday. We were a party of 4. All our meals were presented very professional and friendly. All our meals were made with a special taste &flavor that complemented our wine selection. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a very casual and friendly evening. Compliments to the chef!!

good, but don't expect middle east
The name of this place presumably refers to the fact that it is close to the west bank of Manhattan, so don't expect middle eastern food! That said, it is a good lunch or pre-theater spot, offering a good Italian-American type menu selection at reasonable prices. Then again, plenty of similar places a block up or down from it on 9th Av...

Won't Break the "Bank"!
Wonderful pre-theatre restaurant. Food is consistently good. Doesn't get too over-crowded. Good service - restaurant staff really does care whether or not you have theatre tickets for 8:00 but want to have a leisurly dining experience without worrying about the on time arrival of your dinner. $30 prix-fix is a great deal.
