    fails some courses

i hope wd-50 stays in business for the gracious service, lovely charming presentations...but no one can say everything is delicious. the tasting menu is good value. poached oyster starter was a harbinger of dumb, but there were some high points, ie., black sesame mimics charred beef to compliment tasty scallops in one memorable dish. recommended for novelty, certainly.

    Nice try....FAIL

The apps are pretty good, but everything else was subpar, by far. The fact that they try to use unwanted cuts of meat & dress them up to sound good does not work, no matter how well you cook a piece of flap steak, it will still taste like a horrible hamburger. The fish wasn't any better...like I said, nice try, but FAIL. There are SO many better places in NYC. Not impressed at all. Sorry...the current food rating of 3 stars is overly generous.

    Best Meal in New York

Having spent a two week vacation in New York trying everyone from Jean George to Daniel Boulud I can confidently say this was the most amazing meal I've had in Manhattan. While I've had amazing meals, I'd given up on finding food of this style outside the UK. So pleased I added this to the list. Stunning.

Save your money and your molecular gastronomy interest for somewhere else.

Rude bartender while we were waiting for our table. It was like he was doing us a favor by serving us drinks after 10 minutes of sitting there at a basically empty bar. Then we sit, nice table and atmosphere. They serve this wafer bread that was awful. Then I ask the waiter a recommendation for an appetizer and he told me "No. I do not do that. You need to decide for yourself". No specials. It felt dumb for even asking. Our meals were okay, Just OK. I have been eating at places that serve this style of cooking and was so excited to go here.. and we were ENTIRELY unimpressed.

    Wonderful experience

We went for my birthday in December - had the tasting menu which was phenomenal. Went again tonight (July 31) for my fiancé's birthday and ordered from the regular menu. Fantastic, yet again. Service is attentive, but not overbearing. Food is delicious -- special (thank you, molecular gastronomy)!

    Phenomenal !!

So glad I didn't listen to the negative reviews. My wife, son, and I had one of the best dining experiences of our lives last night. The food was great. I recommend the gaccpacho, skate, and rainbow sherbet. Our waiter (Andrew) was a delight and helped to make the experience with his suggestions. If you use the bathroom, you need a sense of humor to really appriciate the exerience. Fantastic evening and one we will remember for a long time. Thankyou Wiley and staff

    Fantastic

Great location. Great food. Great service. The food is innovative and tasty. Fun to experiment with new combinations and flavors. Including tips we paid USD200. The weak dollar at the time helped, but it is great value for money. I REAL Michelin experience. I recommend it highly.
