Best diner in the area.
Waverly is my go-to guy for both in-store and delivery when I want diner food. Their food is among the best diner food around and their prices are fair. They've been delivering to me for several years and never gotten an order wrong. No one will ever confuse it with the Waverly Inn of course, but for what it is it's among the best.

cozy and classic Village luncheonette
A diner is a freestanding structure; technically this is a luncheonette, and one of the best of a dying breed - like the NYC deli, most luncheonettes been replaced with trendy haute cuisine restaurants. Not so for the Wave, which still serves up all the classic diner fare. Tasty eggs and pancakes, daily specials (Greek and Italian dishes are delicious), and fresh juices and milkshakes. The steak and seafood is surprisingly good for such a humble place. Portions are large, prices moderate, and you can't beat the ambience of classic red leatherette booths and a counter for solo diners. I've been eating here regularly since I moved to Manhattan almost 20 years ago and have never gotten anything but superb service for dining-in, takeout, and delivery. Try the Waverly Melt Deluxe or a piping-hot muffin from the cast-iron trays above the counter, yum.

Will never order from waverly again
I just ordered delivery from this restauraunt and it was terrible. First of all the phone guy is rude. It took 40 mns to get my food and my eggs benidict was cold and tasteless, the hashbrowns were soggy, and fruit was bad. However, the orange juice was fresh queezed and very good!

new management?
Wow, I used to order from here all the time. Tonight I was told by the not-terribly charming phone guy that I live too far away. (It's about 6 blocks). Okaay. I guess they're doing alright and just don't need my business. Feh.

Hip place with below average food
The Waverly has great atmosphere. You go there for people watching and to be seen, not for the food! It is too expensive for what you get: neigbourhood pub quality food.

Quirky takes on old standards
This West Village standard has offers some new takes on old standards. While the eggs and burgers are just what you would expect from a neighborhood diner, the Roast Young Vermont Turkey is deli sliced turkey breast stuffed with ground meat and rice, just like a stuffed cabbage. This was not what I expected or wanted, but if you are looking for a twist, Waverly will surely delight.
