Grenwich Village diner
Was in NY for a jazz concert right around the corner at the Blue Note. I had baked stuffed Sole, my daughter had broiled Salmon, each served with potato and perfectly cooked broccoli Both were excellent. Also had soup, salad, rolls and butter. Plus one glass of wine for total of $33 plus tip. Not gourmet fancy but clean and great personal service. An obvious local clientel.

Best burger in town
Washington Square Diner is a super homey place and I really enjoyed eating here for breakfast/brunch last weekend. We were looking for a good lunch place and stumbled upon this place. It was a good find. My favorite thing about this place was the service - our waiter was very friendly and accommodating and also very lively. It was great. This place felt very cozy, considering the chaos in New York City. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and it was pretty delicious, though it definitely needed a sauce or something, so I got some mayonnaise on the side. I really liked the cole slaw that came with the salad. I would definitely go back to Washington Square Diner. The service is super friendly and the place is definitely homey. cold day.

Comme toujours
Over the years the Washington Square Diner has never disappointed. With the torrid heat of July I have suspended my several-mile walks in remotest Brooklyn and stayed closer to my Village home base. A favorite dish of mine here: the excellent, succulent, moist and tender beef goulash. The noodles are cooked to perfection, neither too al dente nor overcooked. Since I have never been a fan of an ungenerous serving (why I hike so much) I avoid like the plague the unfortunate trend in restaurants to skimp on portions and therefore never leave WS hungry. The portions are as generous as the quality fine.

Good But.......
First let me say I have been eating here for 16 years and that won't change. It's Classic, Dependable NYC diner food...no muss no fuss. Nothing outstanding but solid respectable what you see is what you get fare. Also late night wait staff top notch and friendly. Here is my but...every time I order breakfast for delivery or pick up they get it wrong. Dinner is never a problem. They are friendly and will send the fix right away with no question, but once I start eating I want it all there! Not in pieces. My lesson is from today on, I will make certain to ask them to repeat my order back. I suspect a language barrier so if I make sure they hear what I say, this should subside. Fingers crossed! If the problem persists after, I will definitely post - but I have high hopes a simple change on my part will fix the problem. Order from Washington -- Just ask them to repeat it back to you.

Comfort Food!
This diner has been around since forever and I've been going there since the beginning, as I live on West 4th Street. The food is great, the service (especially delivery) is extremely fast and it's a nice, polite bunch of guys who answer the phone and serve you. The breakfast food is amazing with really delicious omelettes, egg dishes and french toast. They have those big, fat sausages, too--which are the perfect compliment to a steaming stack of fluffy pancakes! I even dared to try the fish once (not usually recommended at a diner!) and the filet of sole was absolutely fresh and yummy! I have NO complaints about this place and will always be a faithful customer.

SIMPLY THE BEST
The best 24 hour place in the village. I order take out all the time, always get what I as for. Sometimes they are backed up so it takes a bit longer but still hot and fresh when it gets here. Usually I go there on weekends when I have more time. The wait staff has been the same forever, so they pretty much know what we order and its always yummy.
