Do you see a dessert theme?
Walked by this place for a year admiring from afar. Great atmosphere. Friendly bartender and hostess, but .... waiter was the fatal flaw. His description of the tasting menu started with the price and an edict that both guests must participate. I can read. Last comment was that the tasting menu is catered to each table. My response was . . . great . . . I dont want salmon, asparagus and I would like to try these two things as part of the tasting. "Oh, no, not cater like that. We just respect dietery restrictions and the chef decides what you get." So . . on to ordering off the menu. "I'll have the avacado and crabmeat appetizer." . . . . "We're out of that." . . . "Is the striped bass on the bone?" . . . "I don't know. How would you like it?" Anyway, from the delivery of the first appetizer to the waiter removing our entrees not one query about our meal. Lamb was great, striped bass poor, appetizers nice, desserts SPECTACULAR. Was hoping this would be a regular restaurant because the atmosphere is really great. In their defense, the manager was extremely apologetic about the service.

Memorable meal at Wallse
Went to Wallse this past Saturday with two friends. I had the spaetzle appetizer with rabbit, wild mushrooms, corn, and tarragon. Excellent. The roast duck entree was crispy and greaseless. One friend had the poached lobster - soft and buttery, and the other the steak - tender with a wonderful beefy flavor. We shared the green apple and celery sorbet with horseradish and olive oil. Memorable. I had the quark souffle with a citrus comport for dessert. Quite amazing. Service was attentive but unobtrusive. All in all - a wonderful dining experience.

Very disappointing
Not much to the food, very little flavor in the trout. Appetizer with venison lacked any flavor whatsoever. Dessert and wine were fabulous though.

So good!
I have been to this restaurant once each year for my birthday. It really is a wonderful treat every year! The food is sooo good and the deserts are even better. I had the duck which was really good, while my mom had the bass. Both were delicious as well as their deserts. The service was great and we had a wonderful spot for my special day. It is obviously an expensive, fancy place but if you try their food and see that the money is worth it and do it only on special occasions, you won't be disappointed. I can't wait until I go this year! It sure is a special place.

Absolutely Fabulous!!
The food here is out of this world, especially the venison goulash and the lobster. The desserts are even more amazing- you have to try at least 2 of them....go to this restaraunt on an empty stomach!

One of the best meals I have had here
I actually live in the west village and I have been dying to try out this restaurant. Last week we finally did and boy were we both blown away. I had the lobster and it was amazing. My boyfriend had the lamb which he said was also amazing. The service was impeccable and the decor is very european. I loved the entire experience and I highly recommend this place!

if you go to only one in new york
So delicious!! I had the lobster, which melted in your mouth, not to mention the fennel and figs that came with it, which also wowed me. The desserts are also to die for. Do not miss this fabulous restaurant. (and no, i don't work for kurt!)
