Wish I knew about this place sooner!
I've been working 2 blocks from this restaurant for the past 3 years and wish I had tried it sooner! First of all, the food is delicious! I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. The lunch portions are a great value and good portion, more than I can eat in one sitting. I had the double cooked pork with chili leeks (L10) and can't say enough about how much I enjoyed it. The lettuce wrap appetizer and crab asparagus bisque were also good, but expect the bisque to be a thick broth--no cream. That might disappoint some, but I thought it was delicious all the same. I picked up rather than dining in, but the place is beautiful. Don't let the 2nd ave subway mess deter you from trying this fabulous restaurant!

Addicted
I am completely obsessed with their seemingly dull sounding chef's special "stir fried chicken" which is described as sauteed with miso and thousands of chilis (which it totally is). It's UNBELIEVABLLEEE! Super spicy and savory with crisp nuggets of tender (yet dry, in a GOOD way) chicken and tingly sichuan peppercorns. Not too many peppercorns though, which have a tendency to distract with their sensory magic tricks. So, so delicious I have it far more often than I should. The space is nice, spacious, and clean, albeit somewhat cheesily decorated. Service is nice and prompt. Delivery comes quickly. So glad this place is in my neighborhood!

Great Sichuan in the UES
Me and my coworkers have been here a few times and have consistently had great food. Vegetables are fresh, the flavor is excellent. I love this place. Definitely one of the best sichuan restaurants in the area!

Mouths on Fire!
We ordered an outrageously hot chicken dish, which was designated hot and spicy but that was an understatement....we couldn't eat it which has never happened before. The other dishes, on the other hand, had no flavor and were greasy. Oh well....another disappointing UES Chinese Restaurant

A Welcome Addition
I walked by the other day and saw that Wa Jeal had landed the former chef from Wu Liang Ye, which made my day! I ordered delivery that night of some Kung Pao Chicken. Delicious! Complex flavor, not too greasy and good heat. It's not cheap Chinese, but it's some of the best, so worth it!

So close, So good
We have been living on the UES for some time, and have tried out numerous chinese restaurants. My wife and I have stopped our search. This is now our go to! We have not had a bad dish from Wa Jeal.

Great Szechuan!!
They make the best dan dan noodles that I have had in a long time!! Streaky pork is also great!! Perfect balance of spice and flavor, so far, soo good!!
