    Gone Way Downhill...

I used to order from here all the time. I hadn't in awhile and now regret it. They altered regular entrees ever so slightly and unfortunately for the worse. My salad container was only half full with lettuce. The nice chicken with harissa is now overcooked grilled chicken -so tough I had to use a steak knife to cut. The dressing tasted funny. Tossing the menu.....too many places in Manhattan to put up with absolutely mediocre food.

    All Aesthetic

Vynl is simply one thing - a club open all day long that happens to also serve food. The owners as so blatantly in love with the look, feel, vibe of the place that it's fascinating how many people go back so often. Yes indeed, the music is obscenely loud, and oh yes, most of the food is bland, with the exception of most of the salads, burgers, and meatloaf - but I say to you, these are not hard dishes to make. Overall, the value of the food is very mediocre as most other reviewers comment BUT, if you're looking for a Cher-themed bathroom that also plays Cher hits inside, you've found the place. So, the lesson here is - if you're looking for a quick, simple bite or some drinks with friends, Vynl is your place. If you're looking for a nice meal, keep walking down 9th Ave.

    Fun Place

Dont let the word Diner fool you, its great food with a themed surrounding. It is decorated with record albums, and in the design of the old vynl albums. I always have good food here, but it does get crowded, most good places do. A young hip crowd.

    Deafening

I took my 20-year old son here for a Saturday pre-matinee brunch after reading the reviews about the atmosphere. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and competent. The restaurant was full and people were waiting for tables, so it seems to be a popular neighborhood place. It was so noisy, however, that we had to scream at each other to converse. It is a small place and the tables are too close together.

    Great happy hour drinks!

Great happy hour drinks at a good price. The margaritas are not 'weak' happy hour drinks. We took our children back the next day for lunch. Enjoyed the food too. The wait staff was good too.

    Not Kid Friendly

I had read reviews on this site and in Time Out Kids suggesting that Vynl is kid friendly, and thus decided to go there for brunch with my wife and one year old son. We went on a Sunday at noon. The restaurant turned out to be far less kid friendly than I expected. The lady at the front counter didn't offer us a high chair when she took us to our table, and looked less than impressed when I asked her for one. I ended up having to ask another waiter for it because my request to her wasn't fulfilled after a sufficient wait. In the end when it did come, the chair was rickety and on the verge of falling apart. On top of this, with the blaring songs and patrons trying to talk loud enough to be heard over the music, the venue is really noisy and I suspect disturbing for children younger than mine. Admittedly there were a lot of young adults in the restaurant and many seemed to enjoy the place and it's feel, even though we found the food mediocre at best. Overall, it was an ok restaurant, just not as kid friendly as I had expected it to be.

    fun!

i first went to Vynl with my cousin whose had been there before, she tolled me that i would love it.....but ow man did she understate that!!! me being a gay man was astonished by how hot the waiting staff was...that alone makes me want to go back, but then i had a taste of the food which was one of the better meals i've had in hell's kitchen. The diffrenet batheroom themes hellped to bring a uniuqe appeal to the dinner and the atmosphere was incredible...all in all it was a good old time.....
