    Homo-kitsch :-)

It's your typical themed NYC place that makes it's money and name off of being kitsch and unduly fancy. The joint draws locals in for their uber gayness and tourists for the flash. Great marketing if you ask me! The food is ok, but any with culinary experience doesn't come here for the cuisine. You want Asian? Go to Chinatown. You want American? Hit up a diner. You want really amazing asian-fusion? Hit up Breeze down the street! Vynl doesn't excel in anything culinary. But everything is edible and (mostly) has flavor. Their fusion concepts aren't super inventive and are some times non-existent. But I do like the (very small) cheeseburger egg roll app. And they make a nicely-sized REAL black & white shake that's pretty awesome. The prices are pretty steep...but you're in the theater district at a super gay joint. This shouldn't be a shocker. You're also paying for the awesome decor (I love the record sleeve menus and the themed bathrooms. I mean, who doesn't like whizzing with Dolly Parton & Cher and their namesake Barbie's???!!! :-), which includes the super sexy, flirtatious eye candy...I mean wait staff ;-) I've found the drinks to be quite weak for the price, with the exception of their seasonal Egg Nog Frozen Drink. ONE of those bad boys puts a guy like me on his knees (do what you will with the pun :-)!!! During the winter I'll often start out at the bar with this drink as my foundation for a fun night across the street at Vintage! Just please be kind to your homophobic friends and take them elsewhere. You're in Hell's Kitchen with Cher & Dolly Parton in the restrooms. IT'S THE EPITOME OF GAY!!! Deal or dine elsewhere :-) Please do not sit uncomfortably and twitch & bit*h. I'm all about inclusion and variety, but when I go to Vynl I like to enjoy my fun, expensive, kitsch experience with like-minded people, thank you very much :-) Lastly, don't expect to walk to your table without being cruised, judged, or both. Just walk in knowing it's going to happen, knowing your shizzle is PHYNE, have fun with it, and dish it RIGHT back! Have a good time for a hefty dime at this solid joint that I return to from time to time when the Judy & Liza records alone just won't cut it!

    Mostly quite good

The atmosphere is fun, if maybe just a tad too loud, and the decor is great. The food was all really good with one minor exception. The positives: the peking duck rolls were great - flavorful and generously filled. The onion rings with bleu cheese were perfection - highly recommend. My friend had the buttermilk fried chicken, and was very pleased with it. I had the meatloaf sandwich and was disappointed. The flavors were fine, but it seemed as though it had been prepared about 20 minutes before being served to me, and had been left sitting under a warming lamp - it was dry and just lukewarm. Not so bad as to send it back, but not what I was hoping for. I'm hoping this was a fluke, because otherwise, it was a great experience. We had whatever the dessert special was, and it was delicious too. Best of all, when the bill came there was no sticker shock. Very reasonable for what we got. If only that meatloaf sandwich had been wonderful...

    Average Brunch

It looked like a fun restaurant with how the restaurant and bathrooms were decorated but I came moreso for the food based on the comments. The angus burger wasn't memorable and the regular menu was not available on the weekend due to the brunch menu. Who knew! Why can't they serve both?

    Consistent Great Food

I live in the neighborhood, and have a lot of ordering in options. I consistently am pleased with several of their dishes: the grilled salmon comes out moist with a great side of asparagus and carrots, the spring rolls are delicious, and the basil stir fry has great tasting veggies and shrimp. I prefer their dinner to lunch. A good option for ordering in or a casual dinner out.

    Vynl is GREAT

I go to Vynl just about every other week and I enjoy it immensely. Whether it is for drinks or dinner and drinks, I always have a good time. The decor is great (especially the bathrooms!), the staff is friendly and attentive and it is a great atmosphere. The meatloaf sandwich is TO DIE FOR, and no Vynl experience is complete without a frozen margarita. The Hell's Kitchen Vynl is a happenin' spot, the Chelsea Vynl is BORING, doesn't have the same pizzaz.

Burger, Pad Thai and Drinks Oh My! Yum!

Went there last night after some co-workers suggested it when I asked for a place in that area to eat. Glad they did! My girlfriends and I had a blast. The drinks were great, burger was awesome (made with filet mignon!) and pad thai was to die for. Definitely will be back there again. Our waiter was great too- very friendly, attentive, and the whole staff was great. Perfect casual setting to grab a bite to eat before a show, after a show, lunch... Highly recommend this!

    a fun time, good food!

Stopped here after seeing Mary Poppins with my mom. We got there at 5 and were seated immediately, the wait staff was very friendly. I had the Pad Thai with Tofu which I thought was delicious, my mom had the cobb salad and found it very delicious as well. Our waiter was also very accommodating with the changes she wanted to make on the salad (different cheese and dressing). The bathrooms (each themed after a different musician) were also fun as was the other decor. The only complaint/suggestion was that there were no hand dryers or paper towels in the bathroom, but still an excellent and decently affordable restaurant in midtown.
