    Not worth it

Example: 8 gnocchi appetizer cost $14. corkage fee: $15. get real!! Mediocre, overpriced food, judged by someone who eats out 365 nites a year with little concern about price!

    awesome first date

This is an incredibly intimate and cozy little spot on the Upper West Side. The food was really good, very traditional Italian, I think Tuscan. Several good seafood dishes, stuffed prawns to die for. The other items equally as tasty. The portions were perfect, not too much, just enough. There was one annoying little thing and it was in the service. The waiter was great, he knew the menu in great detail and had the specials down pat, which I had one of, the gnochi, which were very good, expert technique on the gnochhi's construction. But, the owner I think or manager kept popping in and abrubtly taking things from the table prematurely, kinda screwing up the waiters flow and timing. Something this guy had none of. Then I figured it out, his numerous stops at our table to grab the occasional plate may have been to check out my date. It didn't ruin the meal, (just threw off some conversations through sudden interuption). The meal was fantastic, along with the atmosphere and our actual server.

The Best Five Tables in Town

Amazing food and even more amazing atmosphere. The coziness only adds to the appeal. Highly recommend!

    no longer BYOB

Well, it is, but they charge you a $15 corkage fee! Meanwhile, they don't have any "cheap" wines on the menu. (I know "cheap" is relative.) They are moderately priced, but the BYOB policy was what made this spot a bargain and worth putting up with the manager's insanely rude and snooty attitude for.

    Warm, authentic and good

Voza is a tiny and cute space where chef Sharn serves creative dishes made with very good quality ingredients, the atmosphere is friendly, and they have an outdoor space for sunny days. I've been a regular of this place since it opened, and I never thought about leaving a note about them on this website, shame on me! I just went yesterday evening and I had such a great time I promised myself I would do it right away, so here I am. I had their famous lamb chops (delicious!) and my husband took the "oh la la pork chop", another one of Sharn's best entrées, which was just perfect. They usually have plenty of specials you can choose too, and they serve interesting and very affordable wines. Yesterday evening, in spite of the rain, the restaurant was full. Most customers were couples who had apparently come for a romantic dinner, but there was also a table of friends who seemed to enjoy their gourmet experience. The couple who sat next to us and left at the same time we did told us it was their first time at Voza's, and that they had loooooved the food. You see, that's exactly what happens in this place, you talk to people around you, you exchange, because it is not this kind of cold and impersonal restaurant you find all around the place in the city.

    Worst Service Ever

I've been going to Voza for about a year and a half. Before they had a liquor license, it was BYOB, and it was a real bargain. I can't say anything bad about the food, it's wonderful. Unfortunately, the manager is one of the rudest men I've ever met. I made a reservation for dinner for 2 on a Saturday night. I knew it would be tight but there was NO room in the restaurant when we arrived. Clearly, the manager is unfamiliar with the concept of a "reservation." They pulled a "table" out of the basement, which was basically a big wooden wheel turned on its side. In lieu of chairs we were given tiny footstools, so we had to sit just inches above the ground. We were wedged between a burning hot heater and the door, so we kept getting burned or blasts of cold air, not to mention knocks in the head every time the bus boys went in and out to get supplies for the kitchen. We tried to sit there for a few minutes but it was just too ridiculous. I told the manager that we were not comfortable sitting there and were leaving. He gave me a dirty look and waved me away with his hand and said "alright whatever," then resumed talking to the other customers! Speaking of the other customers, I guess they were HIS kind of people - snotty, rich, uptight and condescending. In a tight space, people need to have some consideration; scoot over and make room for new arrivals (who actually had a reservation). Instead, we got a bunch of dirty looks and the table next to us loudly and repeatedly complained that they were going to be "put to work" since they were "sitting in the kitchen." Hardly. It was a horrible experience, and I'm sad that I happened on my birthday. My boyfriend and I walked over to Awash on Amsterdam and 106th St and had a wonderful dinner with warm service. If you're in the neighborhood, go there instead! If they don't replace the manager, they will continue to lose loyal customers and will be run out of business FAST. And I will not be sad about that!

    Tiny, cozy, romantic and yummy

We have enjoyed Voza several times so far, each being better then the last. Voza, is a tiny little place with only a few great tables. It's a little cramped and dark, but the size makes it a great romantic spot. Sean, the chef is friendly and helpful. He will gladly sit with you and share the long list of nightly specials. The food is excellent, although a tiny bit pricey for the neighborhood. This is exactly the kind of restaurant we need more of in the area.
