    we love this place

My daughter and I have loved eating here for years. It is a vegan paradise. The zen pizza is a superb whole and delicious healthy meal,The new stuffed artichoke is addictive...everything there is so healthy and super tastey and people who work there are the best

Best vegan pizza I've ever had!

Miso-marinated tofu instead of cheese, genius!! This was the best pizza I've ever had, hands down, vegan or not. Service was so fast, even though there was ONLY ONE GUY there. Sure the place is tiny, but we got our food to-go and it was wonderful.

    The Mexicali, indeed... ?

I have to second KT's review: It used to be the most original and yummy pizza I've ever had in my life, but now it is essentially inedible, being way too hot. Guys you have to get rid of the seeds when you cut the jalapenos! One can always add red pepper flakes or whatever, but it is rather difficult to get rid of them once the seeds are in there. Please, restore your contribution to world peace and harmony and get rid of the seeds in the Mexicali !

    consistently delicious pizza and soup

For over five years my vegan husband and i have enjoyed takeout and delivery from VH. The pies are super unique and the taste combos are amazing. Thankfully, there are NO pepperoni pies here, despite the insistent plea's of the dumb drunk frat boys i saw in there the other night. The Santa Cruz calzone (ask for two sides of sauce) is enough for two meals and made fresh to order. I usually get a slice of Zen which, although expensive - $5something - is the size of two regular slices. Both the minestrone and lentil soups are consistently flavorful and freshly made.I've never had a bad meal and delivery is super quick. They also have fresh spinach and other good ingredients salads in the cooler. The only negative is the Vegan Treat desserts are sometimes stale and dry. Make sure you pick through the case and get the freshest ones.

    will send you into bankruptcy

The vegan pizza is quite good, but this place recently raised its prices, The small pie (repeat: small, NOT large, i.e., enough for two people), which is our usual take out or delivery order, used to cost (with several extra add-ons) either $27 or $29, depending on which cashier was doing the calculating. Last time we ordered, after the price jump, the pie cost $42 for the same exact one we'd been ordering for a couple years. Ridiculous. No matter how tasty it is at those prices we won't be going back.

    What happened to the Mexicali?

I wrote a rave review on this site about a year ago. The Mexicali was my and my husband's favorite. It used to be absolutely original and genius. For the last 7-10 months it has been terrible. They are putting in too many jalapenos without de-seeding them--the result is way more heat than flavor. The crust tastes more like white flour than cornmeal as well. Bring the Mexicali back!

    I can't believe it's not non-vegan!

Most of my vegan food attempts have ended in disappointment and a hunger for something more, but not at Viva Herbal Pizzeria. I decided to have the $6.25 slice (though in all fairness, it's pretty big and heavily-endowed with toppings) of Zen Pizza, laced with green tea, mushrooms, pesto, tofu, and a plethora of other tasty delights. Best of all, it was all piled atop a spelt crust, perfect for a lassie like me who has a sensitivity to wheat. No, the ambience isn't exactly perfect, but the pizza is delicious, and I cannot wait to try the other unusual slices (especially the one loaded with hemp!).
