    Great experience

Took a friend here recently - she absolutely loved it - it was on mardi gras evening too. She had the jambalaya - couldn't finish it but loved it. I had my standard two-meat combo (ribs and link) - can't go wrong with those. The live band playing contributed to the upbeat atmosphere. Service was attentive and friendly. A great time.

    Our first dining date

My fiance and I had our first date here at Virgil's. I have been a regular ever since! The food takes me back to when my Grandmother would cook huge Sunday dinners with all the fixin's - and finish everything by 3:00pm. She would wake up 4 o'clock in the morning to prepare her family a wonderful feast and this restaurant takes be back to those lovely times with that special woman. Every time I take a bit out of Virgil's hush puppies with maple butter - all of a sudden my eyes close, my head rolls back, and all I can hear myself saying is "mmmhmmm mmmmmmm! Dang this is good!. Good lawd!...they are delicious. That's how its done right!..." If you don't know about country Hush Puppies, you gotta try them out. If you ever heard the term "finger lickin' good" - believe me... this food is it!!!! Just Delicious! All I can say is...reserve ahead of time and be prepare to devour!!!

    save your money and calories

We wanted to treat ourselves and after reading reviews, thought we'd really enjoy the food--were we wrong. The ribs were fatty, the pulled chicken were huge chunks of mixed white and dark meat--found a small bone in there, too. The loaded fries were soggy and tasteless. Expensive worthless calories.

    BBQ Oasis in Times Square

The Only bad thing about Virgil's is how addictive the food is. I have been a patron & fan of this place for the better part of 7 years now. I have sampled most of the menu but I will always go back to the brisket or pulled pork. I drag all of my friends (in NYC and out) there and they are instant fans. Never had a bad meal or service. Hush puppies with maple butter are good starters, but may fill you up. Don't bother going anywhere else in the city for BBQ.

    Yummy

I went here last night with my BFF and my other friend. We really enjoyed everything. The waiter was very helpful. The swamp drink was delicious. I definitely would go back.

    Not to be missed

Ribs were great - do not miss them. Cornbread leaves something to be desired but the rest of the food more than makes up for it. jalapeno poppers and hush puppies are great appetizers. Been here a number of times and have never left disappointed! Hot handtowels after the meal are a definite plus - no one wants to leave with sticky bbq sauce on their hands!

    Delivery not up to par

The fried chicken was soggy and salty, the fries with cheese had a nice flavor but seemed like they were heated up in the micro. A dissapointment. Can't really comment on the atmosphere
