    Great BBQ!

I was just at Virgils and it was delicious. We went on a saturday at 5pm and we got a table right away. The wings were great and falling off the bone. I had the Shrimp Po Boy and it was great. The bbq chicken was a favorite of my group as well as the sides. The mac n cheese was AWESOME. I cant wait to go back!

    Good for Lunch

Have gone here a number of times for lunch on different days and the items for each day are great. Always high quality and plenty of it. Don't just check out their regular menu - check the lunch specials if you have a mind to go during the afternoon. You won't be disappointed.

    Pretty good

Stopped in for dinner (no reservation needed). It was Tuesday night and they have live music. We did not know that when we decided on the place. The music was very loud so be careful that's where you want to go on a Tuesday. The food was pretty good. The ribs were a ok but I've had better. The brisket was great! Very smokey tasting, I liked it a lot (more than the ribs). For the sides, I got the mac&cheese and potato salad which were both good. I would recommend it. Of course I cannot say it's real barbeque since I'm for the Northeast....but I wouldn't know the difference.

    Disappointed

I was disappointed in the food. I left quite a bit on my plate. Have had much better elsewhere. Way too expensive for what you get.

    Per drink?

Have been a regular customer of Virgil's - always good, always filling food. However, I went here recently and noticed that they now seem to be charging per glass - at least as far as lemonade goes. That wasn't the case before...something to watch for.

    Best wings

The barbeque chicken wings are to die for! Absolutely the best wings I've had in New York, and I have had alot. The meat is so tender and juicy, it melts right off the bone. The flavor is smokey, delicious, spicey. I am salivating right now just thinking about it. If you are a wings lover like me, believe me, get yourself down to Virgils as soon as you can and order the wings. My husband and I fantasize about the wings all the time. We have gone all around the city taste testing the wings, and these are the best bbq wings by far!!!

    Great down home cooking

We went after a matinee and got a seat right away (a line did form while we were eating). I had fried chicken with mac n cheese and potato salad - all of which were excellent. My husband had chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and beans which were also excellent. The pecan and apple pies were also delicious. I did not find the portions huge and would have tried an appetizer if I didn't read the previous review. Service was excellent (and it was our waiter's first day). I can't remember the last time I had such good service in NYC. I would definitely return the next time I need some southern food.
