The ONLY decent barbecue in NYC!

As a BBQ fanatic, I?ve sampled the fare throughout the country. I must admit that Virgil?s is up there with some of the best barbecue I?ve had. In fact, since coming to NYC 9 years ago, Virgil?s is the only barbecue place that I?ve found worth visiting with any regularity. And I?ve tried most. I do recommend visiting on a weeknight though, as I?ve found the meat tends to be dry and less tender when the volume increases on the weekends. All in all, I think Virgil?s is more than worthy of carrying the ?real barbecue? title.

    YUK !!

I'm from Texas and have realized that as cultured as some palates are in NYC, you all leave a lot to be desired for BBQ and southern food. My food was burned and full of jalapeno peppers. There was no flavor other than spicy peppers. I don't know where they got their BBQ recipe from, but it left ALOT to be desired. The mac n cheese was mealy. I would rather have Kraft . I ordered based on these reviews, but if you are looking for true BBQ in this city, you better head south. I give up my search and just will wait til I get back to visit Texas for real BBQ. I just quit eating and threw it away

    Best mac in town!!!!

It's only a side order, but not one to pass up! I tell all of my friends that it is the best mac the city has to offer and when they taste it, they completely agree! My usual is a side of mac, their delicious wings (not fried-even better), and a cool vanilla milkshake.... fan-freakin-tastic!

No such thing as a free lunch!!!

Now I never complain about a free lunch, but after I threw down 3 lbs of pulled pork, a container of baked beans, and 1/2 a mac and cheese, I think someone can at least foot the bill for my cardiologist over the weekend.!!!!

    Hey DarkLadyGotham!!

I agree that the chili cheddar cheeseburger is to die for (and so is my indigestion) Why don't we meet for the chili cheddar cheeseburger sometime!

All around great place to eat.

Wait time was to be 20 mins., and it was. Hostess was polite and accommodating. Food was excellent, I had the grilled catfish. Atmosphere was lively, waiter was in tune to his customers. We would definitley return, and I have already recommended Virgil's to my friends and coworkers.
