    Above and Beyond

AMAZING! Not only did the food satisfy, be delivered hot and with nice portions, this place, on my first order, distinguished itself from the other thai's abounding, and almost all other deliveries. i placed a rather large order and as we sat down to eat we realized that they had forgotten to send the side of coconut rice ordered ($3). Rather than calling and waiting to start we chalked it up as a mistake but began eating. 15 minutes into the meal the bell rang and it was a different delivery man holding this container of the ordered rice!! good food, good service (delivery). Highly recommended.

    Great Thai Restaurant in Brooklyn

I have eaten at a lot of the Thai restaurants such as Song, Nahm and Mee Thai on 5th avenue and the quality of food at this restaurant is much better. The prices are reasonable and my wife and I also find the food much tastier than the food served at the other Thai restaurants.

    Good Thai Food, Good Value

We ate here as we wanted to try out a Thai restaurant and it was surprisingly good and surpassed my expectation. It's a perfect place for some regular Thai food at a reasonable value. Nothing exceptional but definitely better than a lot of other Thai restaurants on 5th avenue.

    A pleasant surprise

We ordered take out from VIP because a lot of the other Thai places in the area have really gone downhill. We were pleasantly surprised that the dishes were very flavorful and full of vegetables that the other restaurants have become stingy with. There are also a few different dishes that are not on the usual Thai menus which is also a nice change.

Food Went Downhill with New Owners

I'm not sure why MenuPages didn't create a new listing for this restaurant once the name changed. I'm not sure if they just rebranded themselves or if they went under new ownership, but I'm assuming the latter because once they became VIP @ Thai (formerly Em Thai), the food went immediately downhill. We've tried multiple dishes on multiple occasions, because we wanted to give it a chance -- it's only half a block from our apartment and Em used to be our go-to take-out, quick and cheap meal. But we won't be returning to VIP @ Thai. The food is just bad. The pad thai was so dry it was almost inedible. The pad see-ew was also dry, and had more vegetables than noodles (and pad see ew is not a dish that is supposed to even have a lot of vegetables). Service is meh. They gave my husband a hard time when he came in with a Google Offers coupon. Another time, I went in to get lunch take-out and stood there for 5 minutes while the hostess disappeared into the back. I finally walked out because I was sick of waiting. Unfortunately, there are not many good Thai joints in the neighborhood. Em Thai used to be one of the half-decent ones, but no longer.

went there hoping that the competition of smith street would produce yet another good restaurant and was sorely disappointed. all the food was bland, underspiced, indifferently prepared. steer clear.
