    Pushy service and expensive..

From what I was told Vino 313 is a fairly new wine bar that's just off of 3rd avenue in Murray Hill. From the outside Vino looks like a nice enough place to go to for a drink, a bite to eat and to enjoy the atmosphere of an unpretentious pleasant establishment. The food is expensive and in small portions. Entrees and more like the size of appetizers and are close to $15 no wine by the glass is under $10. And with $10 appetizers that are barely enough to satisfy the appetite of an 92 year old expect to run a bill over $100 if you want to leave fulfilled. The wine list is impressive and good. The staff are knowledgeable. Here is where my experience turns sour. The service is overly pushy and almost will not allow you to enjoy the cozy, dimly lit, beautiful atmosphere of the place. The waitress passes by our table and asks if 'we are alright' or if 'she can get us anything else' numerous times and to the point of interrupting my conversation with my date and ultimately making us feel rushed. This is disrupting to our evening. Maybe we did not order enough or maybe our bill was not large enough? However coming from the restaurant business myself, its rude to constantly ask a patron if they need anything else in an attempt to push them into ordering something they do not want to. This was the best part, the waitress has the nerve to pass by and drop off the check when I did not even ask for it . And we were sitting there not even a hour! It was clear they were trying to turn the table as quick as possible. Whats even more interesting is that the place had more than a handful of empty tables on a Saturday night! Many people believe that good service is when the server hangs off of your table and literally spoon feeds you your meal. This thinking is mostly here in the states. And these people have never been to France. While I am eating or enjoying a glass of wine I want to enjoy the atmosphere of the place and my time with my date. I dont need the waiter/waitress closer to me than my glass. I also dont want to feel like I need to leave so the next person can sit. Many reading this might think I am hard on Vino 313. But this was not my first experience there. I wont be returning to Vino 313. NYC has so many better wines bars and thats where my money will going.

    Loved It!

When I think Murray Hill, I usually think h*ll no! But this place really changed my mind. I went for a quick drink with some girlfriends and it was just a great experience. It's so refreshing to go to a bar where you can have an actual conversation, and the staff is so friendly and really know their wine. I would definitely recommend this place for a nice dinner date or a girls night out!

    Reminds me of home!

What I like about this place is that it remind of eating out back home in Passaic, New Jersey. None of that pretentious snobby stuff. There's a flat screen over the bar in case you get bored with your date. And even though the food ervings is small, each disch comes with plenty of bread to fill you up. It's kind of like a cool small Olive Garden, which I also love. So if you get homesick for the Garden State, I highly reccommend Vino 313.

Nice little place - great service

There are lots of places in NYC that have great food. Vino happens to be one of them, but what sets it apart, and what compels me to come back, is the service (even though the prices are a bit on the high side). Everyone from the bartenders, to the waitresses, to the owners, to the chefs are very friendly and inviting, and they have been known to take good care of my friends and I when we come in. I think others can expect the same...

    Seriously...Amazing!?

I was nervous that this restaraunt might be too "classy" for my friends and I but once we sat down we felt completely at home. The waitress was so unbelievably sweet and helpful and gave us great suggestions. The menu is fantastic. It allows you to create your own antipasti and cheese plates while offering a full menu at the same time. The wine is expensive but its the experience and atmosphere that makes it worth it. After all thats what a wine bar with vino's atmosphere is all about, not getting your money's worth! Go to the distributor if thats the case! We will definitely come back (hopefully for my birthday)! THANKS VINO!!

    Seriously???

In this economy it takes guts to open up a restaurant. In this economy it takes f#cking b*lls to open one up on 31st street and 3rd ave. My friend and I walked into a nearly empty restaurant at 7pm. We both agreed that the place looked unfinished, although they have been open for 4 months. Our waitress was polite and knowledgeable. She recommended a $65 bottle of Pinot Noir. The anti pasta plate for that day (changes daily) contained tuna, zucchini and something else I can't remember. Since my friend doesn't eat tuna we asked if we could substitute extra zucchini instead. We were told that the chef will not substitute or make any changes what so ever to the menu. Ah..chef...you're not Mario Batili and you're not in the West Village. You're an unknown chef working at a restaurant in Murray Hill! We ended up sharing the goat cheese salad for appetizer. I had scallops and my friend had a panini for entrees. The food was fair at best. On top of the bottle of wine we each then ordered a glass of cabernet. Not that Vino 313 is even close to the league of Il Cantinori, Da Silvano or Vento...but at least there they will give a complimentary pre appetizer or even a free glass of wine or dessert. Here we got nothing. Our un itemized bill came to $160! We paid it and left. This morning we added up all of our wine and food and it came to $130. Somehow they managed to tack on $30. Vino 313...Good Luck!!!!

    Delicious Crostini, Overpriced wines

We've been to many wine bars and decided to try Vino 313 last night. The crostini with lavender and ricotta was absolutely delicious, and the service was very friendly. The wines by the glass are WAY too expensive!! Honestly, I think the glass of red that I had was equivalent to the amount I spent on a glass at Daniel! It is cheaper by the bottle, but not everyone wants to buy a bottle. I wouldn't go back because at a wine bar, I want to be able to try different wines - and doing that at vino313 would make me broke!
