    Consistent quality

I've been going to Village Natural for close to 1o years now and the food has been consistently good since my first visit. I'm not a vegetarian, but I never "miss the meat" here. Very tasty and hearty dishes.

    Great Black Bean Burger!

I love this place for delivery. The people who answer the phone are not looking to get off the phone as soon as possible and the food is always fresh. Everyone should try the Black Bean Burger! It is simply delicious. We also order the soy cutlet parmigian with spagettin and it is very tasty. The portions are great also.

    uninspired

The food was OK (nothing special, but ok enough), but the veggie burgers are just heated up morningstar farms frozen patties and the rest of the fake meat seems to be the same - I can do that myself!

    long-time favorite veggie restaurant

I have been dining here for years and it's my favorite vegetarian place - am surprised at the bad reviews. Everything I've eaten here has been fresh and delicious, portions huge, and a terrific value. For $13 I got two delicious veggie parm cutlets with melted cheese on a pile of artichoke spaghetti, with a big side of steamed broccoli, a garden salad, and a whole wheat pita. That's an excellent value for Manhattan. I have taken many carnivores here and they all loved it, especially the breakfast items, veggie cutlet parm, the falafel platter, the fish entrees, and all the desserts are just superb. Service has always been spot-on and the waiters are helpful and friendly. I find the atmosphere cozy. So it's in a basement, who cares? It's a warm, well-light atmosphere with comfortable booths and two window tables. Don't be put off by the bad reviews, this is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in Manhattan.

    Good, but...

I love health food and lots of vegetarian/vegan options, and this place was... meh. The starter pita bread and salad were totally delicious and fresh, but my entree was just OK and would have been great if not for the inedble vegan soy chicken. I got the zen platter - crisp steamed veggies, brown rice, and tofu... all of these ingredients were great. BUT the soy chicken tasted like the smell of the grand central bathroom stalls. I tried to like it. I really, really did. I ate like 4 pieces. I dunked it in every sauce I could fine - still no good. My friend got couscous with shrimp and it was just alright. So I am going to assume that most things here are pretty delicious (I was envious of another table's choices, the veggie burgers look AWESOME)... as long as you avoid the vegan soy chicken. At. all. costs.

    Best brunch, dinner, & delivery!

I have had brunch & dinner at this restaurant, and delivery dinner a few times. I have nothing but good things to say! I am very confused by some of the other reviews. I only started going here a few months ago, so perhaps they changed management recently. Atmosphere: Classy & neighborhood-y. It feels like I'm having dinner at someone's (very nice) house. Yes, it's in a basement, but the front is all windows facing the street above and it's well-lit. The service: Perfect! They are friendly in a sincere way, again as if I'm eating with friends. Last time I went, I asked our server which vegetarian burger she recommends. She told me the black bean burger is her favorite, and she didn't steer me wrong. It was one of the best vegetarian burgers I have ever had - and I am not easy to please in that department (seriously, does anyone want peas and carrots in their burger?!). The only time I went for brunch, I got one of the platters that included veggie sausage patties. My meat-loving boyfriend tried them and said that hands down, they were the best sausage patties he has ever had, meat or otherwise. As a vegetarian, I'm irritated that they have a fish section on their menu, but the rest of it is vegetarian and they have lots of vegan and gluten free options. The prices are moderate - I think it's a great value for the high-quality food and service that I received.

    Absolutely subpar

I went here for brunch, and it was the worst restaurant experience ever. First of all the atmosphere is kind of like a cafeteria, it seems like you are eating in a very dull and depressing basement. We ordered our meal, and the waiter was not enthusiastic at all. Then we waited for a very long time to receive our food. I ordered the cinnamon raison french toast, which seems like it would be pretty hard to mess up. Well, I must say they did. The french toast was completely covered and soaked in this sticky sweet blueberry sauce that did not complement the french toast at all. Then the bread tasted bland and believe it or not, stale. I took one bit and pushed it away. We called the waiter over and told him that it didn't taste good, and he still made us pay for something that we didn't even eat. It was a waste of twenty dollars. I would not suggest going to this place.
