overblown
Based on the two items I purchased, a seitan sandwich and a small slice of carrot walnut cake for $18, this was a highly overpriced and unsatisfactory meal. The seitan was not distinctive, a thick, homogenous slice with no refinement served with corn chips. The cake, for $6.50 a slice (!) was tasteless and dry. Given the restaurant's admirable vegan and vegetarian bent I will give it another try. I hope I have as good an experience next time as some of the other reviewers had but if it was anything like this one, I can't recommend it.

Mmmm, Best Carrot Ginger Dressing
This is the only health food restaurant I've found place that makes carrot ginger dressing/sauce that doesn't separate into an oily mess if you put it in the fridge for a day. The food is fresh and healthy, the environment is pretty zen, and it's a good spot to eat alone or chat with a friend. Exceptionally friendly service.

The Best Black Bean Burger in NYC
Ive been going here for about 5 years since i moved to the village. I order the black bean burger and it is the only place i will have one. The staff is so friendly and the ambiance is exactly what I need when I want to unwind after work and have a great meal. Delicious food and wonderful environment.

ugh
I tried really hard to like this place, but the food is just BAD. from poached eggs being hardboiled to veggie breakfast "sausage" being a vegetarian bratwurst. When I called and very politely explained to the guy that everything he just sent me was overcooked, ice cold and made wrong, he said "that's how we do it, nobody complains". Huh. Thanks! I do complain, because your food and service is unacceptably BAD. Especially for NYC standards.

Never miss the meat
I have been going to the Village Natural for 18 years and have always enjoyed the food in the relaxed atmosphere. Yes, for my meat loving friends I need to tell them not to worry they will not miss the cow, pig or other animal with a face on a plate. Specials are always good to try and the standard items are excellent. Seeing many places in the Village close in recent years, it is good the count on the Village Natural being there. My recent lunch there with friends was another good meal. Thank you.

Glad I gave it another chance
Great, healthy food for your money. I was here a few years ago, and must have ordered the wrong thing for me. Got stuck last night, no where to go but there, thought, oh, worth another try. Thrilled! Fresh, lots of vegetables, even fish. Yeah! Left full and happy. Moving to the West Village. I'll definitely be a regular.
