I've been eating at the Village den for years. The food and the quality is consistent. For a diner, they use high quality ingredients and the food is always fresh. Today, I ordered delivery of yellow split pea soup and a salmon burger. The salmon burger was made of fresh salmon, not canned, and was seasoned to perfection. It also came with a wonderful mesclun green salad with radishes and seedless cucumbers(easier to digest). The split pea soup was also great and came with homemade seasoned croutons. All the utensils were all there and delivery came within 15 minutes. They totally paid attention to all the details and didn't miss a beat. Even after all these years, Village Den is the best diner in the village!

There is no comparison between Village Den and any other breakfast spot. You are served a delicious 3-egg omelet (I always get the egg white version), with a heap of potatoes, a salad, two slices of bread with butter (their multigrain bread is the best), and a bottomless coffee cup. It's filling and nutritious and healthful. By far, best breakfast in the Village, for a reasonable price.

We are a hard working family and have come to depend on take out food. However, when we order from the VIllage Den, it's as close to Home Cooking as you can get. All their breakfast items are excellent.Their fresh squeezed orange juice is tops. The VIllage Den Omlette is a standout. The seafood is also top quality. The burgers, great. We also love their salads, wrap sandwiches and egg-creams too. We have come to think of the Village Den as our kitchen. And they get the food delivered faster to our table than any other take-out place in the village. Bravo VIllage Den!

The no-nonsense neighborhood diner is an institution that is fast disappearing from New York City. When the Village Den remodeled a few years back, we were afraid that they were going to aim for some kind of new concept, and were tremendously relieved to find that they were dishing out the same reliably good diner food that they have always served. We mostly go here (and get delivery) for breakfast; the fresh-squeezed orange juice, a cup of their coffee, and an omelette will get any morning off to a good start. If you're dining in, you're pretty much guaranteed to see at least three people you know from the neighborhood, and in nice weather, if you can score one of the sidewalk tables, it's a treat. It isn't "destination dining" and doesn't have a milligram of pretension in it; it's just a good diner. The world (and New York City!) needs more Village Dens.

Great service, great staff, nice atmosphere, reliably good diner food you can always count on. And you won't find faster delivery - they are shockingly fast, especially at lunchtime. It's too easy and too good - I eat here far too often.

This is our family's favorite restaurant for basic eats, whether dining out or ordering in. Perfectly kid-friendly, with meals that will please the adults as well. Don't forget to try the dessert!

Excellent waffles, omelets and other breakfast selections, including fresh OJ, syrup and turkey sausages.
