A serious change is required in Village Den starting from service to the food delivered. It used to be a nice and homely environment before but something is totally wrong. Is it due to the change in the management or due to the change in the employees. Anyways it requires a change!

This used to be our favorite delivery restaurant. But it's gone down. The quality of all the food has gone down several notches. The eggs arrive overcooked, The hash browns , dry and black around the edges. The whole wheat toast, now the cheap kind. Order a Grilled chicken sandwich on a hard roll, now it comes on a cheap hamburger roll, the kind you get 12 in a bag for a buck. Order the fish sandwich, it's frozen and thin and dry. Even the french fries are now of the pedestrian variety. The soup is still OK. Even if you ask again and again, they won't bring menus. The delivery men are no longer professional, but new ones who arrive with the food all askew. The whole place is being run differently somehow. All the food seems tossed together, carelessly and is in no way what it used to be, which was nicely prepared and quite tasty. Too bad. Because they also raised their prices which means after fifteen years of ordering from them six times a week, I'm going to be going elsewhere.

... and in the thirty-five years I've been coming here (and the old place) the dedication to quality and professionalism has been maintained. My favorites are the beef stroganoff with a tasty light cream sauce and noodles that are tender w/o being over cooked or too al dente, bagel w/smoked norwegian salmon, cream cheese and onion, broiled calves liver, center cut pork chop w/apple sauce, Tex-mex chili w/rice, mousakka, tuna salad garni, Rockford burger (like a roquefort burger) or mushroom burger with a nice slice of raw onion. The chicken noodle is everyone's favorite with its big chunks of tender chicken.

I've been eating dinners at The Village Den for many years. Everything has always been first–rate. It is my favorite restaurant in Manhattan. It is a very comfortable and friendly place and it is always a real pleasure to go there. I have such good memories of this place. The food is always very fresh and wholesome and good. Portions are very generous and the meals are inexpensive. My favorite dinner is the bluefish. It is absolutely delicious.

I've been eating at the Village den for years. The food and the quality is consistent. For a diner, they use high quality ingredients and the food is always fresh. Today, I ordered delivery of yellow split pea soup and a salmon burger. The salmon burger was made of fresh salmon, not canned, and was seasoned to perfection. It also came with a wonderful mesclun green salad with radishes and seedless cucumbers(easier to digest). The split pea soup was also great and came with homemade seasoned croutons. All the utensils were all there and delivery came within 15 minutes. They totally paid attention to all the details and didn't miss a beat. Even after all these years, Village Den is the best diner in the village!
