Comfort Inn par excellence
A wonderful place for a leisurely lunch or dinner. The friendly, on-its-toes service adds to the experience provided by a kitchen that turns out reliably good --sometimes exceptional-- Italian and Croatian specialties. Among the latter, not to be missed are the Struckli (melt-n-the-mouth ravioli-like pasta pillows stuffed with satiny cheese and mushrooms in a sauce of silky melted butter. Some observe the place is frequented by an older clientele; there's a reason for that --they;ve been coming back for ages.

Forever the best!
I have been coming to this restaurant since I was a kid (1977) and now still freqent this establishment bringing clients and friends here whenever I am in town. I never had a bad meal and can count on a delicious dish each time. I recommend to always get the specials! They are my family away from home. Outstanding customer service!

Love it
I recently moved into Murray Hill and heard about its lack of decent restaurants. How delighted I was to find this gem two blocks from my new home. The food is delicious and the wine list extensive. I lived in Europe for years and when I enter Villa Berulia I feel like I am back in the Old World. The staff is attentive and good humored and always put a smile on my face. Be sure to try the penne vodka, it is my favorite.

Great evening - with kids
We showed up on a Sunday evening without reservations and they still found room for us. The restaurant is larger than expected and we were seated in a back room with 2 other families with young children away from other diners. The wait staff were very experienced with children and accomodating. Helping to develop dishes off the menu to meet our needs. The food was excellent. This is a great family neighborhood restaurant.

They Get It
Came here as part of a group of 15-16 people for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night...not the best way or best day to judge a restaurant. But they sure came through. The place is comfy and attractive without trying to be pretentious. The wait staff is attentive and friendly. But the star of the show is the food. Started with perfect chicken wings. Went to shrimp cocktail and stuffed mushroom appetizers. The shrimp were fresh, large, cold and crunchy and the stuffed mushrooms were what stuffed mushrooms are supposed to be . Followed that with a perfect caesar salad with anchovies (they'll leave 'em out if you don't like 'em). However, I must congratulate myself on my choice of main course. Osso Bucco served with gnocchi in a delightful vodka-type sauce. The osso bucco was fork tender and oh so tasty and the gnocchi was simply the best I've ever had anywhere! Negatives? Just two. The waiters were a bit slow in refilling water glasses (but it was an unwieldy group of 15 or so) and the Italian cheesecake was neither moist or particularly flavorful. Other dessert choices, according to family members who ordered them, were quite good. All in all, if you can get a meal this good under these circumstances (Saturday night/large group), this is certainly a place that knows what it's doing. Guess that's why they've lasted so long in such a competitive business where trendy, pseudo-upscale restaurants come and go so quickly.

I love the quietness the wonderful service and the great food. When I travel to NYC for shows, I make it a priority to dine in this delightful restaurant.
