Yum
Great sandwich. Had the house special, #1, and boy was it yummy. Great contrast of pickled veggies with salty and flavorful meat and Vietnamese mayo/sauce. The bread is toasted, so it's crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside - perfect.

It used to be better
I think quality has slipped since it expanded and got rid of the juice bar in front. But you can't beat the prices so I deal with it. #3 extra spicy - the best.

i love pork
have only been here twice, but on my second visit (it was only 1 week later) the guy at the counter remembered i like extra cilantro, talk about service! the pork has lots of flavor, crunch veggie toppings, bread that is crusty outside, soft inside. makes everyone on the sidewalk jealous as you walk by.

Good sandwiches
Visited this little sandwich shop during the last trip there. The sandwiches are really really good and authentic (we're Vietnamese). Would definitely come back here whenever we come to NYC.

The real deal
You couldn't find a more authentic one in Vietnam. Suggesting any change would be to detract from the genuine article to appeal to American tastes. And a more expensive one could not be better than one served here. The only problem with recommending this place is that they may increase their prices if more people show up. Oh, and I gave the Atmosphere a 5 because Bahn Mi are supposed to be served from a hole-in-the-wall if not from a street vendor.

You buy food here because it is awesome
I ordered a #1 (bahn mi) and it made my Sunday. You don't go here for the atmosphere, to feel all cool and trendy so your out-of-town friends are all "oh you're living the sex and the city dream! let's drink apple martinis!" nu-uh. you go here because a sandwich can rock your world for $3.

Best
i live next door and hence this place makes up like 80% of my diet because it is so good and so cheap. maybe the best thing i've ever eaten ever in my life, for like $4. secret demigods of the culinary universe.
