Best Vietnamese sandwiches in NYC
Posted by lady di on 02/05/2006
If you haven't tried a vietnamese sandwichm run to Nicky's now. The combination of a warm baguette, grilled meat, fresh vegetables and sliced hot peppers is unbeatable. One reviewer commented that Nicky's is slow, but I think it's great that they make your sandwich to order. Yes, they use toaster ovens to heat everything up (stuff that was cooked fresh in the AM I'm sure), but more power to the family run small business.

I always get the vegetarian sandwich option with portobellos, pickled carrots, etc., and it is excellent! I also love the selection of traditional vietnamese drinks and juices that are inexpensively priced. This a great place to pop in for a quick snack. However, if you've really got an appetite, one of these little sandwiches isn't going to fill you up or feel like a meal ... and once you've paid $4+$4, nicky's doesn't seem like such a steal anymore.

Nicky's sandwiches are my one weekly cravings. It's good, it's cheap, what else can you ask for. My favorite is the chicken sandwich although the others are just as yummy. And get it spicy. It will add a nice kick.

The only sandwich I've had here is the pork chop, but it's so good I can't bring myself to order anything else. Really nice people too. Great value.
