Viand has been serving New Yorkers for over thirty years, from our original east-side locations on Madison Avenue (61st & 78th Streets). We have been known for ?the best turkey in town." Since opening our west-side location, we have been known as a great family diner, serving the same great turkey. We have expanded our menu catering to our west-side customers, offering items like healthy salads, paninis and wraps. We thank you for your patronage and it is our honor to continue serving our customers with quality food and excellent service.

Reliable, occasionally fantastic UWS diner
We've been ordering and eating in at Viand for at least 15 years. We find that the food and service is better than the average diner. Delivery time is excellent and portions are large -- we'll often order one entree and have dinner for two. They're good at fish dishes, breakfast, and we love the chicken quesidillas. The restaurant is clean and less noisy than some others in the neighborhood.

Fast, Reliable and Delicious Delivery
Viand is a terrific neighborhood diner. Yes its a bit pricey but bottom line the food is good and the options are plentiful. Like many diners the menu is vast, however Viand's staff and service is far more pleasant and reliable than most other diners in nyc. I highly recommend the chocolate chip pancakes as they are amongst the best I have ever had. Overall both dining in and delivery are excellent options and Viand remains an excellent neighborhood joint, 2 thumbs up.

I stumbled upon this place when my sister and I were wandering around the Upper West Side. We thought it looked a little over-priced for diner food but we were so hungry we didnt care. It was the middle of the afternoon and there were a couple of other people in the restaurant. Since we were so hungry you'd think that ANYTHING would taste good, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. I chose the Vegetarian Pita and she chose the Russian Panini. The veggie pita was basically a stale pita topped (NOT filled) with a massive pile of BLAND grilled mushrooms, zuccini, and cheese. Not appetizing at all. I didn't even know how to eat it. Knife and fork? There was no flavour and our waitress was neglecting us so much that I basically had to walk to the back of the restaurant to ask for some dressing. My sister's panini was massive (way too much food for one person... why don't you reduce your portion size and just serve better quality food? no wonder america has an obesity epidemic). It was heavy and unappetizing. Basically one of the most disappointing meals of my life and I feel like my sister and I flushed $30 down the drain.

Popular Viand. Buy why? Disappointing food. High prices.
It's remarkable that no matter how many times we go to this admittedly clean dump (for 3.5 yrs now), the food is consistently disappointing. Why do we go? It's 1/2 block from where we live and my kids like the breakfasts. Yesterday was classic: a tomato slice with the burger is "extra"/"deluxe", the burger was subpar, the accompanying pickle wedge didn't taste like anything resembling a pickle. The minestrone soup was tasteless (I gave it back). My daughter's penne with butter sauce ("kid's portion" at $7.95) was greasy(probably not butter or butter infused with cooking oil). They do the basic bacon and eggs and pancakes fine (but if you order in they're unbelievably cheap and only include two little plastic syrup things with pancakes -- more costs extra I was reprimanded once by the owner).

If you are starving and haven't eaten in days and the noise of your stomach grumbling is the only thing occupying your attention and then you accidentally stumble on this "cafe," I would still suggest you keep walking. I am not sure what I enjoyed more: The wait staff's rude demeanor and obnoxious glares or the mess thrown onto a plate that is called your meal. While the options look plentiful, the truth is that no matter what you order, you will feel dissatisfied; I suggest you bring Tums for your own piece of mind. My friends and I all ordered very different foods: a chicken dish, hummus and pita, and soup. All of us left with the same though, "I can't believe I paid money for that..."

Massively Over-rated
Viand places itself as the elite diner on the UWS -- far from it. My kids, 6 & 8, like Viand and that's the only reason we ever go. Produce is disappointing, the place is massively over-priced on something as basic as pancakes (they charge $2 more)

Very reliable cafe/diner
We go to Viande all the time. The owner and staff are always very friendly. Very child friendly. Food very good and consistent.
