    Great Italian

This is a perfect place with excellent service. Our server was knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations. Dishes are tasty and look good as well. All in all a great value for the price.

    Excellent Italian!

I've been coming here for years, as its a neighborhood restaurant. Except for a couple of dishes, everything is really delicious. All specials tend to be wonderful. Fish is always good Particularly good: chicken ravioli with truffle sauce, the fried puffy bread with prosciutto, lasagna, cotechino, white beans with tuna appetizer, and the chicken dish, and virtually every pasta. What I adore about this restaurant is the lack of music- you can actually have a conversation.. The decor is delightful, and the owner is often around and really lovely.

    One of the Best

I'm young but I've travelled a lot in my life. I am italian (a true "Modenese") and love Italian cuisine. I have tried Italian restaurants wherever I have happened to be and obviously compared them to the ones I used to go with family/friends when I was much younger and was still living in Modena. Well, the experience of "Via Emilia" was shocking: one of the best restaurant where I have ever been, certainly the best Italian (and "Modenese") restaurant outside Modena. Truth to be told I have only tried "gnocco fritto con prosciutto crudo", "tortellini in brodo", "caramelle", "cotechino in galera" and "pannacotta". The "gnocco fritto" and "tortellini in brodo" were even better than the vast majority of other restaurants in Modena, pretty similar to those my old grandma used to cook for us. The "pannacotta" deserves a note, as well: tender, sweet…way above the average pannacotta you usually eat at restaurants. The chef, a true Modenese emigrated in NY more than 20 years ago is kind, willing if you have questions and always present. In conclusion, a great restaurant with lots of tasty (yummy) courses. Needs a visit if you are in search of true, genuine, authentic Italian food.

    fifth visit; still good

My friend had Caramelle Di Castelvetro, a stuffed pasta I'd never seen before; his wife had the smoked duck salad -- a lady's dish, for my money, but pretty tasty, for all that. For dessert the four of us managed to split a tart filled with some sort of dried mixed fruits

    Um....what?

I really wanted to like this place because I love the neighborhood and it would be a really nice addition. The staff is very nice but the whole lunch experience was an exercise in disorganization. The selection was very limited for lunch and my salad was something a 9 year old could have put together. I'd also suggest that the staff frown upon letting people ride their Razor scooters into the dining room.

Cali comes to ny for italian

refills on water were phenom. waiter was so personable and went above and beyond to make sure that we were satisfied the whole time. they were able to make accommodations to items on the menu for specific patrons and had no issues with this at all. it was a tiny restaurant with a HUGE wine selection and a lot of lambrusco! it's a little hole in the wall and i would definitely go back any time with any group of people! five stars! just a tip-CASH ONLY but no big deal since it's a great find!
