Not for lunch and not in a group of 10

We booked after reading all the reviews. I believe we mistakenly booked for lunch time. There were only two people working one waiter and one helper in the kitchen. The waiter was trying but still it took one hour to one hour and half to get our order and everything tasted average or below. Prices were fair. I would never go back for lunch... Dinner I will try by myself first...

    Perfect!

After seeing Giovanni's SuperBowl coup on YouTube, my granddaughter and I had to check out VDP on our trip to NY. The food was superb, the wait staff was friendly and attentive, and the owner and his mother couldn't have been nicer. I can't wait for my next trip to NY and another visit to this quaint restaurant. Kudos to the entire staff!

    A little bit of luck

After being trying to go to Abraço for the third time (great coffee place around the corner), I was walking around the block waiting for a friend to meet me downtown for a movie. I decided that I wanted to grab a bite to eat at Via Della Pace just based on the decor made it seem like a pretty traditional place. I was very impressed with the pasta and how perfectly it was cooked, but more importantly how cheap it was. I even had money left over to get an expresso, which was very good as well. I will defiantly return, perhaps for dinner, but the lunch atmosphere was relaxing as you can get in the city. -LS49

    Not your neighborhood Italian joint!

Since discovering Via Della Pace sometime early last year, it's quickly become a favorite of me and my boyfriend. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, although sometimes a little too noisy for 'intimate' conversation, and sometimes you're left feeling a little cramped for space. Nevertheless, the food is fresh and delicious, and a wonderful alternative to your steotypical Italian fare of macaroni and meatballs and such (which I love, but don't really seek out, since no restaurant's sauce can ever compare with my Mom's!). A nice wine selection too, at price ranges to fit every budget. The fact that it's 'cash-only' kind of threw me at first; let's just say I'm glad the bf didn't have to run up the block to the ATM when the check came the first time we ate there! All in all, a wonderful dining experience in my favorite neighborhood that will keep us coming back for more!

    The Rich and Famous!

My party of 3 were in the area and decided to go in for an early dinner because the place looked adorable and nice from the street. we were right! The wait staff was so nice, and warm, they were standing at our table and joking around with us, very nice people. When we had a question about what was on the menu they graciously helped us out. Turns out though we picked a special day to go, bcause the New York Knicks had just finished a matainee game at The Garden and two of the Knicks were coming to Via della Pace for dinner. Danilo Gallinari along with Sergio Rodriguez showed up and suddenly our waiters disapperared. I waited for (no exaggeration) for someone to fill my glass of water once the celebs walked in. Finally, a woman waitress came over and apologized for all the comotion. I was actually able to meet Sergio and have a picture taken with him because he was seated next to our table. Gallinari on the other hand was in a private room with his party because his uncle owns the place. The whole experience was very nice and I did enjoy myself- I would definitely go back!

    Tips required on take out!

My recent experience with Via Della Pace is based on a take-out experience. I purchased an appetizer and an entre to be picked up. The bill came out to 24.00 dollars. I gave the waitress 30.00 dollars at which she looked perplexed and asked how much change do I want back? The question had taken me back and I said what do you mean? The waitress stated she put the bill in as a table service and asked if I would mind if I could get 3 dollars back. I was stunned by the affront by the waitress and stated whatever is easier on you? Therefore the waitress took 3.00 dollars as a tip for a take out order which I found of poor quality...

    Good Bruschetta and Pasta

Definitely more good things to say about Via Della Pace than bad. It is a very chill place in the East Village with more than reasonable prices. I would recommend getting the "pick three bruschetta" and choosing whatever you like. I have had all of them and they are all very good. I am also a huge fan of the Lobster Ravioli. If I remember correctly it is around 15 bucks which is definitely a bargain in this city. The bartender with the ptail is kind of a ......., but besides that I can't complain. Good music too..
