Upon reading the excellent reviews on this page...my sister and I decided to go here to celebrate her birthday...what a mistake! We arrived at 5pm on a Friday and the place was a ghost town! To add insult to injury, we watched as the wait staff hung out in the back of the restaurant, or walked in and out of the kitchen for a full 30 minutes before they even took any part of our order! Needless to say, it took over two hours for 2 people to be served a very simple dinner with appetizers, and the food was just o.k.

It's a must! Great food, great service and great drinks! Forget the Caipirinhas here, try the Batida de Maracuja, instead of lime it's with passion fruit! Affordable $ for NYC.

Let's start by saying Menupages.com is truly awesome! 5 stars for this great site. However, Via Brasil is not a perfect score. I was taking some people to a Broadway play and I wanted to take them to Via Brasil because of the great reviews it received here. Unfortunately, it was not the food that we had a problem with, but their service. Our table was left with out water or drinks for at least 10-15 minutes. Of course, we really enjoyed the meal and we had a great time, but joking around with my friends, I tipped my empty glass and left it towards the edge of the table. A few minutes later the waiter came to ask me if I had gotten anything on my clothes, but I said to him that thankfully it's been empty for half the time we've been there. He smiled and got us water finally. That issue as well as waiting another 15 min for the check was a little bit annoying. The food was great, but not 5 stars. Chicken Stragonoff was excellent, but the a la carte Churrasco was a little bit dried. Overall i would say 4 for the food and i would go again, but hopefully we won't run into the service issue or we'll need to bring water bottles. Via Brasil... great place!

This is by far the best Brazillian food you'll have outside of Rio or Bahia. I make it a habit to go there every once in a while, and that's for one reason only: to keep making it special! Most recommended - Filet Mignon Strogonoff which is to lick your fingers, The Feijoada Completa which is almost as good as my mom's, and if you're a seafood lover, go for the Camarao com Abacxi - which is pineapple as if you were in a tropical island... My favorite place in town...

My girlfriend & I dined there two nights ago, and I must say that we were happy that we did. The food was freshly prepared & delicious. Even though we missed out on the LIVE band at Via Brasil, we still had a wonderful experience due to our wonderful waiter. I dont remember his name, but by far he was the cooolest one I have ever had. He gave us insight to the Brazilian culture as well as showing us how a Caipairinha (Dare to try!) was made. He was hands down the best & I would certainly go back.

Service and presentation were good and the food was good but not outstanding. In the heart of the theatre district, it's very convenient for a pre-theatre meal.

I absolutely love this restaurant. I am Brazilian and know what good Brazilian food is all about and you will certainly find it at Via Brazil. The service is always outstanding as well.
