Yesterday 3 first time Brazilian food eaters tried Via Brasil. We enjoyed our Mixed grill, Chicken Stroganoff, and Pineapple salmon. The atmosphere was cute and they start live music at 7pm (at least on Saturday). I would try it again, being a little apprehensive I didn't order something particularly exotic and although I enjoyed my food, it wasn't the best I'd ever eaten. I will say out of all the Brazilian food on the block, this looked the best. Very easy to find and great prices for NYC and what you are getting. Everything I saw looked great. The service, at first attentive, eventually left us waiting for the bill, but my water glass was rarely empty.

My wife and I eat at Via Brazil several times a year and always enjoy it. The Sangria and food are top notch and the service is great. I was there as recently as December and thoroughly enjoyed it. The Misto is a good serving of meat that I can never manage to finish, probably because of the fried banana and chorizo appetizers that I love so much. Overall, this is an excellent restaurant with a great food, a great ambience and great service to match.

I came here to eat with a friend during lunch. It was not busy with people at noon, actually there was only one table there. Our waiter seated us in the corner. 10 mins sitting there, the roof starts leaking down water from the ceiling in the table right next to us. The waiter seats us elsewhere, but I wondered why he would give us that seat in the first place when it wasn't even that busy. It seems the water situation wasn't the first time, because if you look at the mirror and wall, there are water spots. After 12:30, the restaurant got busier. I also noticed that our waiter failed to tell us about the specials of the day, while I heard other waiters tell their customers about it. We both ordered a paella, which was ready 50 minutes later, which was good but not the best I've had. The lobster was overcooked and bit dry. The mussells were not cleaned properly, each bite was sandy. The portion of the paella was bit smaller than most places, as usually it comes served in a plate and a pot, which is good to share for 2 ppl. This place's serving portion was good for one person, enough to really stuff you though. Overall, it is a nice romantic setting, and depending on who you get, the service is attentive. However I think the food could use improvement.

I work in the area and we go there for relaxing lunches. Food is top notch and service great. An excellent oasis amidst the bustle of midtown to relax and enjoy a leisurely lunch in great surroundings. Highly recommended.

Had lunch with my team. The service was outstanding, our waiter was very polite and provided great service. I ordered Paella and shared with a co-worker since the portion was big. Other co-workers ordered fish entree, chicken entree, and shrimp. They were all good and all of us left satisfied. We also liked the ambiance and decor was done with taste. Would go there again.

Via Brasil is REALLY the next best thing to being in Brasil. Don't miss the feijoada...This restaurant has been in NY for over 22 years with the same owner. Nobody does it better in Brazilian food or service. Nobody.

We went "Brazilian" all the way, with the house special entrees, traditional Brazilian drinks and appetizers, and even passionfruit mousse for dessert. From the piano to the flan, we enjoyed every minute of our evening and recommend it wholeheartedly!
