    anyone who loves vespa ...

Or knows very little about Italian food.... I ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese, a pretty hard dish to screw up as far as Italian food goes. Truth be told, it could have come out of a can. Sauce was pale in color and filled with salty meat. Gnocci my partner ordered was nothing spectacular either. Took quite a while for us to get a menu as well. Like the entire UES, this place is all show and little substance.

anyone who doesn't love vespa is crazy

Seriously, anyone who has something negative to say about this place is nuts. Sit in the back. Order the Kris Pinot Grigio. Get either the gnocci or the lasana. You will thank me.

    Vespa + Me = Love

With its iconic vespa sitting out front, how can you not be charmed? I kept eyeing this place for so long and finally went...now I bring everyone! I'm so proud to have found such an adorable place with amazing food, an impressive wine list and a patio in the back that pretty much transports you back to Italy. Love it.

First time, and will be back!!

Went to Vespa last weekend with my bf and another couple. The other couple had been there before, and were excited about taking us there. Now I know why!! We started with the goatcheese and beet salad. I'm usually not a big beet fan, but all of the flavors just worked perfectly! Oh, and don't even bother going to Vespa unless you get the Japanese Clams, they were sooo amazing! For entree, I had the cavatelli which was so rich and creamy, and I couldn't imagine anyone not loving it! My bf got the short ribs (even though I wanted him to get the swordfish). The short ribs were great though anyway. Well, thats just the food, we were able to sit outside in one of the largest gardens I've been to in NY, totally romantic. We all had a ton of wine (the staff really knows what they are doing when it comes to wine), and all four of us left beaming, saying this was one of the best meals we've had in a long time! Thanks Vespa!!

The food is always fresh and delicious, the menu changing seasonally to keep things interesting and the service always attentive. I dine here at least once a week. The wine selection is great and reasonably priced. I am so happy there is at least one restaurant that is half way decent in the neighborhood. One thing though, the toilets could be better taken care of. All in all this is a great experience.

    Poor food and service

dined at vespa last night (have been there a few times in the past and it has been average) with friends from overseas and to say the least it was shocking. the main meals took 1.5 hours to come out and when they did it was a huge let down. the pork was not what we expected - dry, overcooked and oily tasting but after waiting so long we ate it anyway. very overpriced, slow service and bad food. there are so many great UES restaurants, I would give vespa a miss.

    Best on the UES

I have been living here for 2 years and I have to say not only is Vespa my favorite restaurant to go out to on a friday night, but the delivery is prompt and just as fantastic! While dining at the restaurant, my favorite spot most certainly is the outdoor patio! So romantic and beautiful. On colder nights the staff is wonderful enough to direct portable heaters towards my girlfriends who are always shivering! And lastly, the choices of wines are excellent!
